Cunard Partners with RCGS for the 2025 Alaska Season

Cunard, the luxury British cruise line, is thrilled to announce their continued collaboration with the Royal Canadian Geographical Society (RCGS) for the 2025 Alaska cruise season aboard the revamped Queen Elizabeth. This partnership will feature an impressive array of guest speakers on select voyages, enriching the experience for travelers looking to connect with the stunning Alaskan scenery and its unique geography.

Beginning on June 12, 2025, guests aboard the newly updated Queen Elizabeth will enjoy insightful talks from RCGS experts during their Alaska voyages from June to September. These speakers, celebrated in their fields, include explorers, naturalists, topographical experts, astronauts, and advocates for indigenous rights—all ready to share their knowledge and stories with travelers.

Among the distinguished speakers is George Kourounis, an RCGS Explorer in Residence best known as a worldwide adventurer and storm chaser. He will be aboard from June 23 to July 3, sharing thrilling tales from his explorations. Following him is Laval St. Germain, another RCGS Explorer in Residence and notable airline captain known for summiting Mount Everest without supplemental oxygen. His inspiring journey will unfold during the sailing from July 3 to July 10.

From July 10 to July 21, naturalists Brian and Dee Keating, who have documented wildlife through films for nearly four decades, will enchant audiences with their insights into nature's value and importance. Then, Lynn Moorman, a geographer and educator, will discuss the glaciers and fjords of British Columbia and Alaska from July 31 to August 11.

Joseph Frey, who has led numerous marine archaeology expeditions as the former director of The Explorers Club, will take the stage from August 11 to August 21. Following him, Andrew Fuestel, a veteran NASA astronaut with three spaceflights to his credit, will share his adventures from August 21 to August 28.

The lineup also features Sunniva Sorby, an RCGS Fellow and polar ambassador, who will share her experiences skiing to the South Pole and advocating for the protection of polar regions from September 8 to September 18. Lastly, David and Kim Gray, renowned naturalists and photographers, will round out the speaker series, bringing their engaging stories to the audience from September 18 to September 25.

Cunard's president, Katie McAlister, expressed enthusiasm about the partnership saying, "The fusion of our luxury cruise experience with RCGS's educational components provides a unique opportunity for our guests to engage with the world around them." The talks promise to enhance the beautiful journeys with educational content that will leave lasting memories.

In addition to RCGS experts, the Queen Elizabeth will host a variety of other speakers throughout the season, including popular TV personalities and experts in adventure travel, like Robson Green of Extreme Fishing Alaska, actress Ruby Wax, and acclaimed mountaineer Peter Hillary. Each brings their unique storytelling capabilities to engage audiences.

With some shore excursions integrated into these enrichments, guests can immerse themselves fully in the narrative of Alaska’s breathtaking landscapes.
