Cunard Unveils Art Collaboration with Talk Art Hosts on Queen Anne

Cunard's Art Collaboration with Talk Art Hosts

Cunard has embarked on an innovative partnership with Russell Tovey and Robert Diament, the hosts of the popular podcast Talk Art, to enhance the art journey aboard the luxury cruise liner, Queen Anne. Since its inaugural voyage in May 2024, Queen Anne has established itself as a beacon of contemporary art at sea, showcasing the largest curated art collection on any cruise ship.

An Immersive Experience

This collaboration introduces an immersive self-guided Art Tour designed by Russell and Robert, allowing guests to dive deep into the intricacies of over 40 selected pieces of art scattered throughout the ship. With the launch of the podcast-style tour this month, travelers can engage with the artwork like never before. Each featured piece is anchored with insightful commentary from the hosts, who share the stories and inspirations behind the artworks, in addition to exclusive artist interviews.

For instance, guests will have the opportunity to appreciate Micheal James O'Brien's stirring portrait of Gilbert and George nestled in the Golden Lion, or immerse themselves in Susumu Kamijo's charming Poodles series showcased in Aji Wa.

A Collection Like No Other

Queen Anne boasts an astonishing contemporary collection of more than 4,300 art pieces, utilizing over 500 different framing techniques. The artwork ranges from emerging talents to established artists and reflects Cunard’s legacy intertwined with the journey of modern luxury through time. A notable piece includes a commissioned photographic artwork by London-based Aaron Tilley, capturing vintage Cunard artifacts that tell the stories of maritime history.

You'll find a captivating display of these treasures in the elegant Princess Grill suites, representing the golden age of transatlantic travel.

Katie McAlister, President of Cunard, remarked, "Our world-famous Queens are celebrated globally for their modern luxury, reflected in their elegant design and art collections. We're also passionate about making contemporary art more accessible. This partnership with Talk Art not only elevates our commitment to art but also amplifies emerging artists in a unique setting."

The Talk Art Perspective

Russell Tovey expressed pride in collaborating with Cunard, saying, "This is the largest collection of commissioned art at sea, and it is incredibly inspiring. Our goal is to reveal the themes and hidden tales entwined within each artwork."

Co-host Robert Diament added excitement regarding Cunard’s support for emerging artists, representing leading international art schools, which will be emphasized during the audio tour.

With over six million downloads globally and thousands of followers, the hosts are committed to democratizing the art world, making it more accessible to everyone. Their podcast features engaging dialogues that delve into various artistic styles, movements, and their cultural significance.
