In a significant move for urban mobility and innovation, Volley Automation, the pioneering force behind advanced robotic parking systems, has transitioned its national headquarters from South San Francisco to Denver, Colorado. The company is set to inaugurate a cutting-edge 35,000-square-foot research, testing, and demonstration facility in the fall of 2026. This state-of-the-art facility, located at 5675 N. Pecos Street, is designed to accommodate Volley's expanding workforce that includes experts in robotics, software, architecture, and business.
As cities worldwide grapple with increasing population density and the rising costs of real estate, Volley's innovative solutions are more crucial than ever. The company specializes in drastically reducing the footprint and cost of constructing parking facilities in multi-family residences, office towers, hotels, and other dense urban developments. At the core of this evolution is Volley’s AI-powered robotic systems, which have positioned the company as a sought-after partner for developers and architects dealing with complex urban challenges.
Currently, Volley is actively involved in three advanced robotic parking projects in New York and one in Nashville, alongside various initiatives in planning stages across high-density markets, including Florida, California, and Massachusetts. The ability of Volley’s parking systems to optimize space usage is transformative, especially in environments where traditional parking facilities face economic or architectural constraints. These systems can double parking capacity compared to conventional garages, eliminate costly below-ground levels, and reduce the need for valet services—all factors that make previously unfeasible projects viable.
Sam Richardson, CEO of Volley Automation, points to Colorado’s exceptional engineering talent and competitive commercial real estate market as key reasons for this transition. "Denver is the perfect location for us," he explains. "We have access to skilled professionals experienced in robotics and AI, and the affordability of commercial space here allows us to grow our operations effectively."
Currently, there are eight employees working in Colorado, with plans to hire an additional five experienced professionals as operations ramp up. The timing of this expansion aligns perfectly with the increasing demand for space-efficient parking solutions across densely populated cities throughout the United States.
Richardson further comments on the pressing issues his team is addressing: "The challenges we're solving in metropolitan areas like New York and Nashville are the very same that developers in many other growing cities are facing. Our technology has matured precisely at a moment when the market demands efficient and innovative solutions."
The relocation of Volley Automation's headquarters comes at a time when urban planners and developers are reconsidering parking requirements amid rising costs in housing and construction. The company is set to present its AI-driven parking innovations later this month at the American Institute of Architects (AIA) Conference on Architecture & Design, establishing its presence as a key player in the future of urban infrastructure.
