F-Pico and Daiei's Commitment to Sustainability
On April 14, 2026, F-Pico Ltd. and Daiei Ltd. held a joint press conference announcing their new initiative titled the "Eco-Store Collaboration Declaration." This partnership aims to enhance their efforts towards achieving a sustainable, circular economy in the Kinki region, spanning 187 supermarkets.
The representatives at the conference included key figures from both companies:
- Chairman: Masamasa Sato
- Senior Managing Director: Masanobu Takahashi
- Managing Director: Kenji Kobayashi
- President: Yasuo Nishitoge
- Director of Human Resources and General Affairs: Serika Furukawa
- Director of Product Division: Soichiro Kobayashi
Main Points of the Initiative
1. Strengthening Horizontal Recycling with "Store to Store"
Both F-Pico and Daiei are committed to making their stores eco-leaders in the community. Daiei continues its efforts in collecting used food trays through return boxes set up in-store, facilitating the recycling process. The collected trays are recycled by F-Pico into eco-friendly products known as "Eco Trays".
This circular approach ensures that eco-friendly products returned to Daiei's shelves promote a continuous recycling cycle, connecting the customers and stores through sustainable practices. Both companies aim to keep collaborating with the local community to boost resource circulation.
2. Expansion of Eco-Product Usage and Increased Collection of Used Food Trays
As part of the recent agreement, Daiei plans to further promote the use of recycled eco-products from F-Pico. The transition to Eco Trays in the fresh meat sections is scheduled to start in October 2025, with additional plans for further eco-product implementation in various departments.
To encourage community involvement in recycling, Daiei will launch an extensive PR campaign featuring recycling awareness posters and digital signage. Moreover, a series of environmental awareness events will take place, aimed at engaging the local community:
- June 17: Kamishichiken Store
- June 20: Koriokita Store
- August 2: Takarazuka Voluntary Plaza Zukavo
- October 3: Ibaraki Store
3. CO2 Emission Reduction Goals
Through the active deployment of eco-products and the emphasis on the "Store to Store" initiative, Daiei aims to contribute significantly to CO2 emission reductions.
F-Pico and Daiei are dedicated to reinforcing their partnership goals through effective collaboration, working together to protect the environment at a local level and contribute to sustainable societal development.
