Milliken & Company Unveils 2025 Sustainability Report
Milliken & Company, a leader in materials science, has officially published its 2025 Sustainability Report, underscoring its achievements over the past year in the realms of employee safety, environmental responsibility, and ethical business practices. This marks the eighth consecutive year that the company has issued a sustainability report, solidifying its commitment to transparency and continuous improvement in its operations.
In the 2025 report, Milliken highlights significant advancements in their employee safety performance. The company recorded a remarkable 39% year-over-year reduction in the severity of workplace incidents, alongside a 39% decrease in the number of workdays lost due to workplace injuries. These improvements reflect Milliken's sustained investment in safety management systems and robust employee engagement initiatives.

Another highlight of the report reveals Milliken's commitment to reducing greenhouse gas emissions. Verified by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi), the company reported a 47% reduction in absolute Scope 1 and 2 greenhouse gas emissions compared to the 2018 baseline. Milliken’s continued efforts to manage Scope 3 emissions include collaborative initiatives with suppliers, enhancing product-level data, and promoting circular economy principles.
Additionally, Milliken has invested over $35 million in initiatives aimed at phasing out coal, improving energy efficiency, and transitioning to renewable electricity sources. They have employed digital tools to extend lifecycle assessments, allowing customers to make more data-informed product choices.
The 2025 Sustainability Report also includes third-party certified greenhouse gas emissions data and climate-related financial disclosures in line with the Task Force on Climate-Related Financial Disclosures (TCFD). Kasel Knight, the Executive Vice President, General Counsel, and Chief Sustainability Officer at Milliken, emphasized the importance of solid governance and trustworthy data in translating sustainability commitments into real-world impact, stating, "This report reflects our ongoing work over time, demonstrating the discipline, systems, and accountability necessary to ensure transparency and mitigate risks while driving continuous improvement."
Milliken's dedication to responsible business conduct and strong governance has been recognized externally. In 2025, the company was awarded the EcoVadis Gold rating for the fourth consecutive year and was named one of the World’s Most Ethical Companies for the 19th year in a row.
