Kokonoyu Beppu Set to Open as First KOKO HOTELS Brand in 2027

Exciting Development: Kokonoyu Beppu Hotel

The construction of the Kokonoyu Beppu hotel officially began on November 13, 2025, marking the first installment of the new sub-brand under KOKO HOTELS by Polaris Holdings. Planned for a summer opening in 2027, this hotel is poised to be a significant addition to Beppu's renowned hot spring landscape.

Location & Features

Located just a 3-minute walk from Beppu Station's west exit, this hotel will feature a stunning open-air hot spring bath on the top floor, allowing guests to enjoy breathtaking views of the Beppu Tower while soaking in Japan's most celebrated hot springs. The hotel will boast 150 rooms across 13 different configurations, including twin and double accommodations to cater to small families, groups, and individual travelers.

As Beppu is one of Japan's most famous hot spring destinations, the demand for inbound tourism has surged, particularly from visitors in Asia. However, new hotel developments with traditional hot spring facilities have lagged behind the influx of tourists. Kokonoyu Beppu's opening is anticipated to fulfill the growing lodging demands and attract repeat visitors, thereby stimulating further tourism development in the region, not just in Beppu but throughout Oita Prefecture.

Hotel Concept

Set to contribute to the revitalization of tourism in the Beppu area, the Kokonoyu Beppu hotel is strategically located near the station, where the supply of accommodation has historically been limited. It promises an inviting ambience that resonates with traditional Japanese hospitality, combined with contemporary design elements. Guests can expect exquisite local dishes served at the hotel restaurant, which will also host breakfast services, showcasing the warmth of Beppu’s customer service culture in a modern setting.

Expansion of KOKO HOTELS

KOKO HOTELS operates under its parent company, Polaris Holdings, with a mission to offer immersive experiences through Japanese onsen culture. Currently, the KOKO HOTELS brand includes 76 hotels and over 10,810 rooms across Japan, ranging from budget to luxury accommodation options. The new Kokonoyu brand embodies the essence of Japanese retreat experiences, emphasizing relaxation, local culinary enjoyment, and heartfelt hospitality.

As the rising popularity of hot springs and ryokan stays among international travelers continues, the introduction of the Kokonoyu hotel reflects a commitment to meet this burgeoning interest while also catering to the preferences of Japanese guests seeking comfort anchored in tradition.

The efforts embarking on this hotel project not only signify an expansion into Oita prefecture but also illustrate the strategic approach by the KOKO HOTELS brand in harnessing the unique attributes of local environments to enhance guest experiences, thus boosting hotel profitability and maximizing asset values for hotel owners.
