A New Era for Entrepreneurs in Aomori Prefecture
Persol Career Co., Ltd. has officially launched its latest initiative, the 'Aomori Startup Initiation Program for Professionals', through its platform HiPro Direct. This innovative program aims to empower individuals who are interested in entrepreneurship and business development within Aomori Prefecture.
The program, titled
"LOCAL PRENEUR AOMORI", provides a comprehensive support system for aspiring entrepreneurs, guiding them from conceptualization through validation to commercialization. Applications for participants will be accepted starting July 9, 2026.
Background of the Initiative
Aomori Prefecture, renowned for its rich agricultural products like apples and scallops, as well as abundant forestry and marine resources, also faces several challenges in its primary industries. Issues such as labor shortages, the need for market development, under-utilization of resources, advanced processing and distribution, and enhancing profitability are critical to the region's industrial future. Moreover, Aomori has experienced a significant outflow of its youth population for over 70 years, which poses a threat to its economic sustainability.
To counter these challenges, the prefectural government has emphasized the importance of creating startups that can drive social change as part of its vision for 2040: 'A society where young people can freely envision and realize their futures.' In this context, the new program aims to attract professionals and those considering relocating to Aomori to develop new businesses.
HiPro Direct was selected for this initiative due to its established expertise and robust network in supporting entrepreneurs and facilitating business development.
Role of HiPro Direct
HiPro Direct will offer a hands-on program, providing comprehensive support for individuals aspiring to start a business in Aomori. Participants will engage in an online workshop series consisting of five sessions focused on the challenges in Aomori's primary industries. These sessions are designed to systematically teach participants how to generate business ideas, define problems, and validate hypotheses.
In addition to online learning, a fieldwork session is scheduled for October, allowing participants to immerse themselves in the local agricultural environment and validate their business ideas on-site. Opportunities for networking with social entrepreneurs, one-on-one mentoring by industry professionals, and pitching their ideas to regional support organizations will also be integrated into the program, ensuring practical support towards business realization.
