Marine Corps Scholarship Foundation Breaks Records with Over $12 Million in New Awards for 2026-2027

Marine Corps Scholarship Foundation Breaks Records

The Marine Corps Scholarship Foundation (MCSF) has recently announced a groundbreaking achievement in its mission to support the children of Marines and Navy Corpsmen. For the academic year 2026-2027, the organization has allocated $12.635 million in scholarships, a record investment that will benefit 2,906 students across the nation. This marks the largest scholarship distribution in the 64-year history of the foundation, reflecting its ongoing commitment to enhancing educational access for military families.

The increase in awarded scholarships not only represents a financial boost but also highlights the growing number of students who are motivated to pursue higher education, career training, and various development opportunities. The surge in both recipient numbers and funding underscores the foundation's dedication to its beneficiaries, ensuring that more children of military personnel can access educational resources essential for their success.

One of the most notable outcomes of the MCSF scholarship program is its impressive 91% graduation rate among recipients, well above the national average of 54%. Furthermore, about 63% of scholars graduate with little to no student debt, in sharp contrast to the national average of 32%. This is particularly significant considering that nearly half of this year's recipients, approximately 48%, are first-generation college students, further illuminating the impact that these scholarships have on breaking cycles of financial hardship and fostering upward mobility.

The foundation’s commitment to academic success is evident, as it ensured that 100% of eligible students received scholarship support this year. This reflects a steadfast dedication to removing financial barriers for military children, allowing them to focus on their educational aspirations without the weight of significant debt.

Ted Probert, the president and CEO of the Marine Corps Scholarship Foundation, expressed pride in the accomplishments and potential of this year's scholarship recipients. He stated, "We’re honored to support this year’s class of scholarship recipients. Inspired by the values of honor, courage, and commitment, these students represent significant potential. Investing in their education is both a responsibility and a privilege. Our work is not finished until more eligible children of Marines and Navy Corpsmen can pursue the opportunities they deserve."

Since its establishment in 1962, the Marine Corps Scholarship Foundation has been at the forefront of assisting military families. It has now awarded nearly 60,000 scholarships, totaling more than $235 million. These scholarships have benefitted students not just from every state in the U.S., but also from 18 overseas bases and U.S. territories. The foundation has gained recognition for its transparency and effectiveness, boasting an Accredited Charity rating from the Better Business Bureau and a 4/4 stars rating from Charity Navigator, indicating its integrity and dedication to its mission.
