Building an Inclusive Society: Join Us for the First Workshop to Create Together

Creating Together: The Journey Towards Inclusive Design

On February 7, 2026, an engaging workshop titled "Creating Together" will be held at the Mitsui Tower in Nihonbashi, hosted by AnyOne Project, an organization dedicated to advocating for individuals with chronic illnesses and disabilities. With a mission that resonates with the motto, "A world where everyone, both sick and healthy, can live normally," the event aims to create a platform for collaboration between those living with chronic conditions and developers focused on creating inclusive products and services.

The workshop will have a small capacity of six participants from each side - both individuals living with chronic illnesses and representatives from companies developing user-oriented products. This intimate setting will encourage meaningful dialogue, allowing participants to share their daily challenges and innovative ideas, fostering understanding as the first step towards a society where everyone can live life to its fullest.

Thanks to the support of Chugai Pharmaceutical Co., the workshop will take place on the 12th floor of the Mitsui Tower in Nihonbashi, Tokyo. Interested participants can secure their spot through the online application form: Creating Together Registration. Early registration is encouraged, as slots are limited and will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis.

Why This Workshop Matters

In the world of business-to-consumer (BtoC) product development, understanding your target audience and the value you offer to them is paramount. Often overlooked are the voices of those living with chronic illnesses and disabilities. However, these individuals possess invaluable insights into the daily inconveniences and challenges they face, which can lead to revolutionary ideas for new products and services.

By engaging with this community prior to product development, companies can glean new perspectives and learnings that are crucial for creating inclusive solutions. Furthermore, allowing individuals with lived experiences to contribute their voices not only validates their struggles but also provides them with a sense of purpose and fulfillment, knowing their input could lead to meaningful change for others.

Bridging Perspectives: What Is Normal?

The notion of what is considered 'normal' varies greatly among individuals, especially in contexts like rainy days where some may easily grab an umbrella while others face significant hurdles. For example:
  • - Some can effortlessly open an umbrella with a quick flick of the wrist.
  • - Others may struggle with strength issues, requiring multiple attempts before managing to open it.
  • - While some may choose to forgo going outside altogether when rain is forecasted.

These varying experiences highlight that what may be typical for one can be a challenge for another. If we can create umbrellas or other tools that accommodate different needs—like those that are easy to open for individuals with limited strength—it stands to reason that we could increase the overall happiness and convenience in society. More smiles could lead to a collective sense of well-being, emphasizing that "what's good for one is good for all."
