New Nationally Certified Career Consultant Training Course for Professional Development Skills Launch

Launch of the New Nationally Certified Career Consultant Training Program

The Japan Management Association Management Center, led by CEO Sho Raku, is excited to announce the launch of a new training course aimed at licensed career consultants, titled "Enterprise Career Consulting Basic Understanding: Support Process 1-2." This course is a Minister of Health, Labour and Welfare designated program aimed at transforming career support methods within organizations.

Under the guidance of Hiroshi Takahashi, head of the Youth Career Research Institute, participants will acquire skills essential for executing 'developmental' support processes during consultancy sessions. Applications for the 2026 course are now open, with the aim of fostering self-directed career development and building a strong foundation for in-house career support.

Understanding 'Developmental' Support

Career consultants are not only responsible for providing 'problem-solving' approaches to workers experiencing difficulties in career formation. They are also expected to help individuals define their future professional aspirations. This involves guiding them in selecting appropriate roles and developing the competencies necessary to achieve their goals. Ultimately, the objective of 'developmental' support is to empower workers to shape their own careers and enhance their personal growth continuously.

This concept stems from a report by the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare, highlighting the need for a shift toward developmental support methodologies.

Context for the Training Program

In recent years, many companies have implemented various career support systems, such as 'Self-Career Dock'. However, many participants attending these sessions express a lack of specific career concerns, stating, "I was instructed to attend, but I don't have any issues to discuss." Traditionally, career consulting focused primarily on addressing individuals' immediate problems through a 'problem-solving' approach. However, in today's rapidly changing business environment, companies seek support that encourages all employees, even those without notable issues, to define their purpose and visions for the future and engage in proactive skills development.

JMAM has dedicated over 30 years to supporting the learning and growth of individuals in the workplace. We believe in helping each employee envision their desired future and actively work toward their career development, rather than solely addressing immediate challenges. This new training course is carefully designed to impart our cultivated approaches and practical knowledge regarding 'developmental' support processes and interviewing skills.

  • - Practical Skills Through Video Materials and Exercises:
By incorporating video materials, participants can visually understand interview processes and techniques. The course includes workshops where participants will analyze interview scenarios using various assessment methods and experiential questioning techniques.

  • - Efficient Hybrid Learning Format:
The training involves a one-day program that combines one hour of pre-course web video learning with six hours of online instruction, totaling seven hours of accredited learning.
