Fender Launches Special Collection to Honor Godzilla's 70th Anniversary

Fender and Godzilla: A Legendary Collaboration

On October 11, 2025, Fender Musical Instruments Corporation, headquartered in California, will kick off the pre-order for a unique collection celebrating the 70th anniversary of the iconic movie monster, Godzilla. Known worldwide, this monster has been captivating audiences since its debut in the film "Godzilla" released in 1954, blending elements of music and film culture.

The Special Collection Breakdown

This exclusive collection features three main models:
  • - Limited Edition Masterbuilt Godzilla Stratocaster®
  • - Made in Japan Godzilla Stratocaster® Blue
  • - Made in Japan Godzilla Stratocaster® Black

Each guitar embodies the formidable presence of Godzilla and represents a historic fusion between music and cinematic culture. To further celebrate this milestone, a specially designed set of picks titled "Fender® | Godzilla Collaboration Picks" is also being introduced.

In conjunction with the launch, Fender Flagship Tokyo in Harajuku/Omotesando will offer co-branded apparel from their line "F IS FOR FENDER" including T-shirts and caps, and a limited-time collaboration drink at Fender Cafe. In addition, a Godzilla Distortion pedal is set for release in Spring 2026, promising a legendary sound to rival the monster itself.

Highlights of the Collection

The Limited Edition Masterbuilt Godzilla Stratocaster® is a work of art created in collaboration with master builder Andy Hicks and Los Angeles artist Tom Neely. Its standout feature is a specially designed electronic circuit that recreates Godzilla's iconic roar while performing, providing an unprecedented experience for both players and audiences. Tom Neely’s striking artwork on the guitar’s body glows under black light, simulating the monstrous radiation of Godzilla as it unleashes its fury.

Artisan’s Vision

Andy Hicks stated, “My love for Godzilla began in my childhood. This guitar combines my two great passions of Godzilla and guitars. The front of the guitar features a monochromatic depiction of Heisei Godzilla, while the back showcases various incarnations across eras. I hope players feel that each version of Godzilla represents something special.”

Tom Neely added, “Being a lifelong Godzilla fan, I’m honored to collaborate on this historic collection. The design reflects the 70 years of Godzilla’s evolution, encapsulating his presence in a blend of blue and monochrome elements.”

The Japanese Line Models

The Made in Japan Godzilla Stratocaster® models will be released as well. The Blue version features an Alder body with Myrtle wood, adorned with a deep blue gloss finish, representing Godzilla's imposing figure. The Black version, limited to Fender Flagship Tokyo and the official online store, draws inspiration from the monochrome visuals of the original 1954 film, providing a vintage aesthetic.

Both models boast the GLO – Gain-Linked Optics technology that visually expresses Godzilla's radiated energy, illuminating the guitar when played. This feature activates a distortion circuit, with LED feedback altering intensity based on the level of gain.

Additional Special Editions

Alongside these models, the Fender® | Godzilla Collaboration Picks include 12 unique designs celebrating the rich legacy of Godzilla. The packaging reflects Godzilla’s footprint, merging practicality with playful creativity.

To immerse fans further, Fender Cafe offers the Godzilla Charcoal Latte, a beverage inspired by the iconic monster. Its deep flavors and impressive presentation aim to provide a sensory experience reflective of Godzilla’s memorable legacy.

With these innovative products, Fender is not only celebrating a beloved cinematic icon, but also inspiring a new generation of musicians and fans alike. As Godzilla continues to evolve through films, anime, and merchandise, this collaboration with Fender promises to bridge the worlds of music and cinema in spectacular fashion.
