Tuya Smart's Impact at COP30 and the UN Solutions Hub
On November 13, Tuya Smart (NYSE: TUYA; HKEX: 2391), a global leader in AI Cloud platform services, participated in the inaugural launch of the United Nations Solutions Hub (UNSH) and attended multiple sessions at COP30. Their involvement underscores the company's commitment to leveraging AI technology for advancing global sustainability initiatives.
The UNSH provides a digital platform that connects climate solutions, partners, and real-world implementation opportunities. This launch event was held in collaboration with the UNFCCC, the Global Enabling Sustainability Initiative (GeSI), and Tencent, bringing together key strategic partners, Tuya Smart included, to showcase practical digital innovations that marry technology with sustainability outcomes. Solutions presented included AI-driven energy optimization, smart manufacturing, and renewable energy initiatives.
During the first thematic solution presentation on the UNSH platform, Renan Antoniolli, Tuya's Regional Director for Smart Industry Business in Latin America, delivered an insightful talk on “Smart Energy and AI-Powered Sustainability.” He emphasized the importance of adopting AIoT technologies in energy management across residential homes, commercial buildings, and urban environments. By optimizing energy consumption with AI, connected devices contribute to creating a smart ecosystem that empowers individuals, organizations, and governments to make informed decisions based on real-time data.
With an impressive portfolio connecting over 3,000 product categories, Tuya demonstrated how AIoT not only enhances urban efficiency but also drives climate solutions through practical applications. For instance, in France, Tuya's Home Energy Management System (HEMS) has been adopted by partners like Xanlite, Mazda, and Thaleos, which help users reduce electricity consumption by 25% to 30% through real-time monitoring of energy use and intelligent scheduling of devices using AI algorithms and energy management apps.
In Brazil, Tuya collaborates with WEG, a multinational company specialized in electrical products and automation solutions, to develop smart home applications that enable comprehensive device control and energy management, thus proposing a new concept for low-carbon, high-quality living. The company has also partnered with smart home service provider Hometree to create AI-driven energy-saving solutions for entire households, including motion-activated lighting, remote device shut-off, and real-time energy monitoring.
Beyond residential applications, Tuya is making strides in civic and municipal street lighting projects by integrating AIoT into smart city planning. These smart street lighting solutions allow municipalities to manage and monitor energy consumption in real-time, dynamically adjusting brightness and significantly reducing energy usage.
At the workshop titled “Turning Innovation into Impact,” Antoniolli engaged in a deep discussion with industry leaders from Gree, Huanghe Science and Technology University (HHSTU), LONGi, and Tencent regarding data-driven solutions, collaborative open innovation, and the educational role in promoting sustainable innovations.
“Achieving sustainability necessitates the connectivity of devices, data, and intelligence,” Antoniolli remarked during Tuya's presentation at COP30. “AI technology must not remain at a conceptual level but rather be transformed into quantifiable and reproducible instruments for CO2 reduction aimed at eliminating 'invisible waste' and enabling users to experience a more comfortable, secure, and controllable smart life.”
Moving forward, Tuya plans to leverage the UNSH platform to continue showcasing how innovation and partnerships between public, private, and international sectors can accelerate sustainable transformations, contributing continuously to a greener future through AIoT technologies.
