As part of a collaborative effort between Luup Inc. and East Japan Railway Company’s Ōmiya branch, the innovative micro-mobility service "LUUP" will be introduced at Hōshakujij Station. This initiative aims to enhance cycling experiences along the Utsunomiya Line, allowing everyone to explore the area effectively.
Purpose of LUUP Implementation
Hōshakujij Station serves as a gateway to numerous attractive tourist spots and culinary delights located just a bit farther from the station. The launch of LUUP not only facilitates tourist exploration but also provides a convenient transportation alternative for local residents.
Objectives:

Revitalization of the Region: By promoting cycle tourism, LUUP seeks to invigorate and enhance the attractiveness of the area.

Improved Accessibility: The initiative aims to offer increased ease of movement for users around the station vicinity.

Boosting Utsunomiya Line Utilization: LUUP's introduction is designed to bolster the sustainability and usage of the Utsunomiya Line.
LUUP Service Overview
- - Service Type: A sharing program for electric-assist bicycles.
- - Usage Method: Users can utilize the LUUP smartphone app to access the bicycles.
- - Start Date: Scheduled for October 18, 2025, at 10:00 AM.
- - Cost: 300 yen (tax included) per hour.
- - Availability: Bikes will be available around the clock for public use.
- - Number of Bikes: Initially, 10 electric-assist bicycles will be available at Hōshakujij Station.
- - Service Area: Covering Takanezawa Town in Tochigi Prefecture and Nasukarasuyama City.
- - Number of Ports: There will be one docking port located at Hōshakujij Station's west exit.
- - Insurance Coverage: Users will be protected with liability insurance for both personal injuries and property damage.
Getting Started with LUUP
To use the LUUP service, follow these steps:

Download the LUUP app: Available on both iOS and Android devices.
2.
Locate a Docking Port: Find the designated port at Hōshakujij Station’s west exit.
3.
Reserve a Bicycle: You can book your electric-assist bike up to 10 minutes ahead of your ride.
4.
Unlock and Ride: Scan the QR code on your selected bicycle to unlock it and start your journey.
5.
Return the Bicycle: When finished, arrive at your chosen port and press 'End Ride' in the app. Capture a photo showing the bicycle inside the port to complete your trip.
