WOODMAN's Role in Establishing a Decentralized AI Data Center
In a landmark collaboration, WOODMAN Inc., based in Tokyo and led by CEO Shinjiro Ono, is taking part in the innovative project spearheaded by Digital Dynamic Corp. This initiative aims to construct a state-of-the-art AI data center in Satsumasendai City, Kagoshima Prefecture, as part of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications' mission to enhance digital infrastructure resilience through local decentralization. The project seeks to address the surging demand arising from the generative AI boom while reinforcing Japan's digital backbone.
Overview of the Kyushu Region Decentralized AI Data Center Project
The Kyushu Region Decentralized AI Data Center, driven by Digital Dynamic, is planned to be an advanced facility optimized for high-density GPU servers. It will cater to the demands for large-scale parallel processing, particularly in the realms of generative AI and High-Performance Computing (HPC).
WOODMAN’s comprehensive involvement includes everything from procuring the essential GPU/HPC infrastructure to designing optimal rack configurations considering power and thermal design, managing unique logistics and installation processes, and conducting initial operational tests. This holistic approach ensures the establishment of a data center that is not only efficient but also highly reliable, thereby supporting a sustainable AI infrastructure. Furthermore, this endeavor is poised to generate new employment opportunities in the region and stimulate economic revitalization, aligning with WOODMAN’s vision of maximizing the use of surplus power and computing capacity.
Partnership and Expansion Strategies
In conjunction with this project, EOLE Inc. will particularly focus on enhancing the number of GPU servers and developing use case scenarios through their AI UI business, aiming to elevate the social value of the data center. You can find more about EOLE
here.
Additionally, a collaboration with Tomorrow Net is set to establish a maintenance and operational framework for the computational resources. They will handle a range of potential hardware and software issues that may arise with the installation and operation of these high-density GPU servers. Leveraging Tomorrow Net's extensive infrastructure implementation experience from various major AI and data center companies, a responsive and effective framework for performance optimization and issue resolution will be built and maintained. More information on Tomorrow Net can be accessed
