Philadelphia Hosts the Spectacular 12 Hours of Sebring for America's 250th Celebration

Philadelphia Hosts the 12 Hours of Sebring

On March 21, 2026, the Simeone Foundation Automotive Museum in Philadelphia will become a hub for motorsport enthusiasts as it hosts "Once Around the Clock: The Simeone 12 Hours of Sebring." This immersive event not only commemorates the 12 Hours of Sebring race in Florida but also celebrates America's 250 years of independence with a day of excitement and nostalgia.

A Unique Celebration of Endurance Racing

The event will feature over two dozen historically significant race cars, demonstrating the evolution of American endurance racing from the 1950s onward. Kevin Kelly, the museum's Executive Director, emphasizes Sebring's critical role in the motorsport world: "Since 1950, Sebring has been America's proving ground where American builders, drivers, and engineers have shown they can compete with the world's best. As we mark our 250th anniversary, this event pays homage to that spirit of competition and innovation."

Themed Sessions through Racing History

Throughout the event, attendees will experience seven distinct themed sessions capturing the pinnacle moments of Sebring's storied history. From the 1950 Crosley shock victory to the fierce competition between Detroit power and European precision, each session will offer insights into the evolution of racing at Sebring. Engaging presentations will include rare archival footage and interactive Q&A sessions with Kelly, alongside live demonstrations on the museum's expansive tarmac.

Immersive Atmosphere and Continuous Race Coverage

The Simeone Museum plans to recreate the thrill of the 1950s to 1970s Sebring infield atmosphere. Guests can expect period-appropriate decor, a vintage soundtrack, and staff dressed in era-inspired racing attire. Attendees will enjoy real-time race coverage from Florida on ten screens, enhancing the immersive experience. "This isn't a static display," Kelly remarks. "Guests who stay for multiple sessions will see the atmosphere evolve as the race unfolds."

This innovative format takes inspiration from the museum's previous successful events, such as the well-attended "24 Heures du Simeone," which attracted over 1,000 participants in 2025.
