Mauna Loa Macadamia Nut Returns as Official Snack Nut Sponsor of the 2025 Southwest Maui Invitational
Mauna Loa Macadamia Nut, the premier brand of macadamia nuts originating from Hawaii, is thrilled to announce its return as the official snack nut sponsor for the 2025 Southwest Maui Invitational. This celebrated college basketball tournament, which takes place from November 24 to 26, 2025, at the Lahaina Civic Center in Maui, Hawaii, marks its 42nd year of honoring the spirit of college sports and the vibrant culture of Hawaii.
Having been part of the tournament’s journey, Mauna Loa aims to deepen the connection between fans and the game through a series of exciting initiatives, including Hawaii trip giveaways, interactive fan experiences, and delightful snack sampling opportunities. The brand encapsulates the essence of paradise, providing fans with a taste of its exquisite products while celebrating the sport they love.
Starting now until November 7, consumers can spot Mauna Loa displays in over 1,500 retailers across the United States, including Albertsons, where they have the chance to win an all-expenses-paid trip for two to attend the tournament live. Additionally, Mauna Loa will host a special contest at the University of Southern California on November 9 during the USC versus Manhattan University basketball game. Two lucky students will compete in the “Mac it to Maui” halftime contest for a chance to win a journey to Maui, with every other attendee receiving Mauna Loa samples and USC-branded leis as part of the festivities.
Ed Schultz, the CEO and President of Hawaiian Host Group, which owns Mauna Loa, shared his enthusiasm: "With our roots strongly tied to the history and community of Hawaii, we are honored to support one of the most beloved sporting events in our home state. As the official snack nut sponsor, we are excited to bring the flavors of paradise to fans, both at the venue and nationwide."
During the tournament, attendees will also be treated to free samples of Mauna Loa's innovative new flavor – Dill Pickle Dry Roasted Macadamias – available at the tournament's Fan Fest and Beer Garden. There will be fun photo opportunities with a massive bag of these delicious macadamias, ensuring memorable moments for all.
To amplify the festive atmosphere, Mauna Loa will collaborate with prominent athletes and content creators who embody the spirit of the event. Athletes from Boise State will produce engaging content that showcases the product and its integration into game-day experiences. In addition, renowned Chef David Kuo will partner with the brand to deliver a multi-part series that invites fans into Maui's diverse culinary landscape while immersing them in the excitement of the Southwest Maui Invitational.
This year, the tournament features eight teams: Arizona State, Boise State, Chaminade University, North Carolina State, Seton Hall University, University of Texas, University of Southern California, and Washington State, all vying for the coveted Wayne Duke Championship Trophy over three exhilarating days of competition.
