PIS Unveils Ambitious Global Growth Strategy at Posidonia 2026

On June 5, PT Pertamina International Shipping (PIS), a subsidiary of PT Pertamina (Persero) and an integrated maritime logistics company, introduced its global expansion strategy at the renowned Posidonia 2026 maritime exhibition in Athens, Greece. This event is recognized as one of the largest and most significant maritime expos worldwide, drawing attention from diverse sectors within the maritime industry.

During the exhibition, Surya Tri Harto, President Director of PIS, addressed the attendees, outlining the company’s vision to become a leading integrated player in maritime logistics. This ambition reflects Indonesia’s growing capabilities in maritime operations and underscores PIS’s dedicated efforts to connect with international markets.

Additionally, in collaboration with the Indonesian Embassy in Greece, PIS hosted a special forum titled "Global Reach: Navigating Indonesia's Maritime Industry." This forum served as a platform for international maritime stakeholders, including shipowners, investors, logistical operators, and industry leaders, to explore new opportunities within Indonesia’s evolving maritime sector.

The event featured insights from Indonesia's Ambassador to Greece, Dr. Bebeb A.K. Nugraha Djundjunan, who emphasized Indonesia’s strategic position as the largest archipelagic nation and a pivotal maritime gateway in Asia. He highlighted the investment opportunities available in maritime transport, port development, logistics, shipbuilding, marine energy, fishing, and blue economy development. Djundjunan also pointed out the critical role that Indonesia's major ports play in enhancing regional and global trade connectivity.

A key discussion point involved enhancing connections between Indonesia, ASEAN, Greece, and Europe, focusing on an integrated logistics framework that encompasses maritime, land, and rail solutions to support resilient global trade routes. In response, Surya Tri Harto introduced PIS’s long-term strategic framework, "S4GO," aimed at transforming the company into a prominent figure in maritime and logistics integration. This strategy places emphasis on strengthening the core maritime transport business through the expansion of third-party cargo shipping and the modernization of the fleet to include environmentally friendly vessels.

PIS is also poised to accelerate its global penetration through strategic alliances and by establishing a commercial presence in key international markets. The S4GO plan further encompasses the expansion of PIS's offshore portfolio, incorporating floating energy infrastructure, such as Floating Storage and Offloading (FSO), Floating Production Storage and Offloading (FPSO), and Floating Liquefied Natural Gas (FLNG) units, while advancing a sustainability agenda. These green initiatives prioritize dual-fuel solutions, fossil-free fuel sourcing, and terminal modernization to mitigate environmental impact.

Currently, PIS operates 65 international routes with a fleet of 63 vessels globally, leveraging Indonesia’s geographical advantages. The company's activities span five key sectors: maritime transport, maritime services, port operations, asset ownership, and logistics. Surya Tri Harto reiterated, "As part of our long-term vision, PIS aims to solidify its status as a regional leader in maritime and logistics, connecting Indonesia with major global markets. We are committed to enhancing Indonesia’s position in the global maritime ecosystem."

As part of Posidonia 2026, PIS also engaged in strategic business meetings with notable international maritime enterprises to explore future collaborations, operational excellence, and the development of maritime services. These strategic interactions underline PIS's commitment to innovation and collaboration within the maritime sector, setting the stage for a robust and sustainable future for Indonesia’s maritime logistics landscape.
