Luca Mining Corp. Reaches New Throughput Milestones at Campo Morado and Tahuehueto Mines
Luca Mining Corp. Achieves New Throughput Milestones
A Promising Start for 2025
On February 5, 2025, Luca Mining Corp. announced significant operational improvements at its Campo Morado and Tahuehueto mines, highlighting the effectiveness of their ongoing efficiency programs. With increases in production targets and stabilization efforts, the company sets a strong foundation for its future in the mining sector.
Campo Morado's Success
The Campo Morado mine, known for producing zinc, copper, and gold, has successfully reached a throughput rate of 2,000 tonnes per day (tpd). This major milestone was achieved by working closely with Cominvi, S.A. de C.V., Luca's newly contracted mining team that began its collaboration in August of the prior year. Thanks to their combined efforts, Campo Morado's operations showed a remarkable 43% increase in throughput over the previous six months. Remarkably, the mill processed over 62,850 tonnes of ore in January 2025 alone.
The management at Luca is keen on maintaining this momentum and aims to further optimize operations. With plans to increase the throughput to 2,400 tpd, the company clearly envisions an exciting growth trajectory.
Progress at Tahuehueto
Meanwhile, the Tahuehueto gold and silver mine is also making noteworthy strides. Initially commissioned as a new underground operation in the Durango State, throughput has started to stabilize at 1,000 tpd. Even with a planned shutdown for testing and adjustments, the mill processed over 24,700 tonnes of ore in January 2025, marking another significant achievement for the company.
Luca Mining Corp. is also taking proactive steps to prepare for commercial production. To enhance operational resilience, they are constructing a new warehouse on-site to ensure a steady availability of parts and resource supply, a crucial factor for any mining operation aiming for longevity and efficiency.
Leadership Commitment
Luca's CEO, Dan Barnholden, expressed his satisfaction with the results, stating, "I am very pleased to see that our careful planning is allowing us to meet these important throughput objectives. Steady and stable operations with backup contingencies are key to consistent results." His vision is driving the company towards achieving even higher productivity rates at their mines.
