Amami Credit Union primarily serves the Amami Islands and has been deeply rooted in the community. However, it has faced recent challenges such as population decline and increasing average age, which have necessitated the consolidation of physical branches. This situation has forced some customers to undertake long travels to complete simple procedures like updating their addresses. Additionally, regulatory guidelines from Japan's Financial Services Agency require financial institutions to keep customer information up-to-date, making traditional paper-based procedures cumbersome for staff members.
