Free Seminar for Acupuncture Students: Understanding Shoulder Pain through the Five Elements

On July 4, 2026, the Seichiku Acupuncture and Osteopathy Clinic Group, led by LSD Company, will host the third free technical seminar aimed at acupuncture students. This event will take place at the Seichiku Shiohama Acupuncture and Osteopathy Clinic in Koto City, Tokyo. With the concept of transforming knowledge of Eastern medicine from theoretical understanding to practical application, the seminar will focus on a common but often misunderstood complaint: shoulder pain.

Seminar Overview

This seminar will provide participants with a unique opportunity to learn about shoulder pain from both a classical Eastern medical perspective and a modern medical interpretation. Attendees will engage in comprehensive lessons that connect the traditional Five Elements classification (Wood, Fire, Earth, Metal, Water) with modern medical understandings that can enhance clinical decision-making and patient communication.

Session Highlights:

1. Understanding Shoulder Pain through the Five Elements (Lecture)
Participants will explore how common symptoms like liver stagnation, gallbladder tension, anxiety, spleen and stomach disorders, and lung deficiency are categorized within the Five Elements framework. The background will be explained using contemporary medical interpretations, making complex concepts accessible.

2. Practical Experience with Moxibustion Needling (Demonstration and Hands-On Training)
Participants will gain hands-on experience with moxibustion needling, where instructors demonstrate the technique of placing moxa on the needle's head and warming it. This practical exposure will provide insights into techniques used in real clinical settings.

3. Learning from Experienced Practitioners
The workshop will be led by Yuji Ueda, Product Manager of Seichiku Acupuncture and Osteopathy Clinic Group and an experienced acupuncturist who has successfully treated numerous patients with shoulder pain. Ueda will share insights from his practice, emphasizing a balanced approach that respects classical theories while integrating modern techniques.

Why Attend?

Shoulder pain is one of the most prevalent complaints faced in clinical settings. Often, superficial treatments such as localized massage or acupuncture do not resolve the underlying issues. This seminar addresses the fundamental question of why certain areas experience tension, moving beyond mere anatomical explanations to include traditional eastern medicine insights.

By linking classical classifications with modern practices, this seminar promises to elevate participants' analytical skills and their ability to communicate effectively with patients. Participants will leave with practical tools they can apply in real-world scenarios, thereby enhancing their clinical efficacy.
