Revolutionizing Delivery Routes with OptyLiner: A Quantum Leap in Logistics

OptyLiner: A Breakthrough in Delivery Logistics

In an innovative collaboration, A-Star Quantum Co., Itochu Techno-Solutions Corporation, and TriValue Inc. have developed "OptyLiner," a delivery route planning service that leverages quantum computing and mathematical optimization. This groundbreaking service aims to address critical issues in the logistics industry by significantly enhancing the efficiency of delivery planning.

The logistics sector faces numerous challenges, including a shortage of drivers, labor hour regulations due to work style reforms, and the need to reduce CO2 emissions. Effective delivery planning has become more crucial than ever. Traditionally, experienced staff have dedicated three hours to create delivery plans manually, taking into account driver burdens and specific characteristics of each delivery situation. However, this method often leads to delays, requiring early cutoffs for orders which can result in empty runs.

Transformative Technology

OptyLiner changes the game by quickly calculating optimal delivery routes that consider a variety of factors, such as vehicle capacity, the number of vehicles, and driver work hours. What once took several minutes to compute—sometimes exceeding 20 minutes—can now be completed in just five seconds, as verified in recent trials. This speed enhancement allows for fine-tuning of conditions and repeated simulations, thereby eliminating the need for premature order cutoffs and reducing cases of empty runs.

Evidence of Success

A pilot trial conducted from April 2 to 5, 2025, at the TriValue Saitama Center showcased the effectiveness of OptyLiner. The trial involved:
  • - Delivery Count: 92 packages
  • - Vehicle Count: 10 vehicles
Outcomes of this trial revealed a reduction in the number of delivery vehicles required, from 10 to 9—demonstrating a significant efficiency gain. More impressively, the time taken for planning shifted from three hours down to under ten minutes when handled by seasoned professionals.

Contributing to Sustainability

By optimizing delivery routes faster and more accurately, OptyLiner not only enhances operational efficiency but also contributes to reducing CO2 emissions. This is particularly crucial for companies dealing with products that require onsite operations, like furniture, building materials, and home appliances. OptyLiner assists these companies in creating sophisticated delivery plans that encompass the schedules and characteristics of delivery personnel as well.

Future Prospects

Moving forward, the three collaborating firms plan to expand OptyLiner’s capabilities. New features will include management functions for joint deliveries and demand forecasting based on accumulated delivery data. This expansion will further support the transformation of the logistics industry, contributing to smarter and greener solutions for all stakeholders.

OptyLiner is set not just to improve delivery logistics but to redefine the standards of efficiency and sustainability within the entire sector. As the logistics landscape continues to evolve, innovations like OptyLiner will be at the forefront, leading the way toward more efficient, environmentally friendly, and effective delivery solutions.
