Abu Dhabi Royal Equestrian Arts Opens as the Fifth Classical Riding School
The Grand Opening of Abu Dhabi Royal Equestrian Arts (ADREA)
In a historic moment for the UAE and the wider region, the Abu Dhabi Royal Equestrian Arts (ADREA) celebrated its grand opening on October 30, 2025. This remarkable establishment is not only the fifth classical riding school in the world but also the first located outside of Europe, marking a significant leap for equestrian culture in the Middle East.
Located on Jubail Island, ADREA presents an exquisite blend of nature and culture, with its serene surroundings of mangroves setting a perfect backdrop for equestrian activities. During the inauguration, esteemed guests, dignitaries, and equestrian community members gathered to witness a mesmerizing inaugural performance that highlighted the deep connection between horse and rider, a core aspect of classical horsemanship.
A Unique Cultural Milestone
ADREA stands as a cultural beacon in Abu Dhabi, presenting a world-class destination where the artistry of horse-riding is celebrated. The facility will host weekly live shows that integrate masterful equestrian skills with music and choreography, bridging the audience to the roots of Furusiyya. This ancient tradition embodies skill, discipline, and the harmonious bond between horse and rider, creating a captivating experience for all visitors.
For the first time in history, the five classical riding schools from Austria, Spain, Portugal, France, and the UAE have come together at ADREA to showcase their centuries-old traditions. The Spanish Riding School, renowned for its Lipizzaner horses, performed the iconic Ballet of the White Stallions while the Royal Andalusian School enchanted audiences with the rhythmic dance of Andalusian horses. The Portuguese School highlighted the elegance of the Lusitano horse, and the Cadre Noir of Saumur showcased its unique interpretation of high-level equestrian arts. Finally, ADREA introduced its own ensemble of skilled riders and horses, establishing a permanent home for classical riding in the Emirates, thereby intertwining Emirati heritage with European traditions.
A Sanctuary for Equestrian Enthusiasts
Situated on a sprawling 65,000 square meter lush landscape, ADREA spans 18,000 square meters dedicated to providing exceptional equestrian and cultural experiences. The facility houses over 40 pure Spanish breed White Stallions, preserving equestrian knowledge within the region’s first-ever equestrian library, which is among the largest globally, boasting thousands of rare texts and a significant archival collection.
Visitors can also explore the UAE's first bespoke saddle-making workshop, where historical craftsmanship is revitalized through a blend of artistry and heritage. Alongside this, the Furusiyya Gallery showcases 173 rare artifacts that trace the evolution of equestrianism across various civilizations spanning over 2,000 years.
As it formally opens its doors, ADREA invites all to immerse themselves in a captivating world where heritage meets performance art. Through equestrian shows, educational programs, and exhibits, the school celebrates the horse as a timeless emblem of grace, culture, and pride. Guided by principles of horse well-being and sustainable practices rooted in Furusiyya values, ADREA extends the rich equestrian legacy of the Arab world, reaffirming the UAE's longstanding connection to its heritage while positioning Abu Dhabi as a global center for culture, art, and excellence in equestrian performance.
