Huawei Unveils Innovative Solutions for Intelligent Healthcare at MWC 2025

Huawei's Groundbreaking Contributions to Intelligent Healthcare at MWC 2025

At the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2025 held in Barcelona, Huawei hosted a dedicated session focusing on innovations in the global healthcare sector. With the theme "Digital Intelligence Drives Inclusive Healthcare," this event brought together industry experts to discuss the latest in digital transformation strategies and artificial intelligence (AI) applications.

In his opening remarks, Dr. Peter Zhou, Vice President of Huawei and Head of Storage Products, emphasized how the strategy of "continuous data flow and realizing value" has enabled Huawei to develop innovative products. These include multimodal converged data lakes and AI-driven data center visualization, significantly enhancing the potential of AI in healthcare. This approach aims not just to inform but to revolutionize how healthcare services are designed and delivered.

Wind Li, a Vice President at Huawei overseeing the international public sector, revealed that Huawei has already supported over 5,600 healthcare entities across more than 110 countries. He articulated the company's commitment to further strengthening the foundations for transitioning to digital and intelligent technologies while accelerating innovation in scenario-based solutions and AI convergence for global healthcare.

Furthermore, during the session, Hong-Eng Koh, Chief Scientist of Huawei's international public sector, discussed the immense potential of AI in healthcare. He highlighted how AI solutions can dramatically improve diagnostic efficacy and efficiency, alleviate the burden on practitioners, and aid in crafting individualized treatment plans tailored to patients' specific circumstances.

Ecosystem Collaboration Accelerates Smart Technology Development

Luis Santiago Sánchez Fernández, the CTO of the Andalusian Health Service (SAS), presented the centralized Hospital Information System (HIS) and Electronic Medical Records (EMR) system known as Diraya, which ensures equitable access to healthcare for nearly 9 million residents across regions. Under his guidance, strategies for Digital Health Care in Andalusia aimed at 2030 (ESDA) and a five-year digitization program for SAS have been implemented. Alongside Huawei, SAS aims to build a healthcare system based on intelligent, efficient, secure, and human-centered solutions.

Tsvetomir Nikolov, the Chief Information Officer at Acibadem City Clinic in Bulgaria, discussed his institution's digital transformation efforts, believing firmly that digital technology is crucial for providing comprehensive services to patients. The clinic is collaborating with Huawei to establish an intelligent hospital campus and active-active data centers, which have tenfold increased data accessibility for HIS/PACS/EMR services.

Feng Feng, Sales and Business Development Director at KFBIO, noted that deep learning algorithms can effectively assist healthcare professionals in their diagnostic processes. Together with Huawei, KFBIO has developed AI-based diagnostic solutions that enhance the precision and efficiency of pathology detection processes.

Looking ahead, Huawei plans to increase investments in technological innovations, leverage AI in situational solutions, further develop smart technologies in healthcare, and strive to promote broader access to healthcare services worldwide. The presentations and discussions at MWC 2025 provide a glimpse into the future of healthcare, where intelligent technologies aim to create a more inclusive and effective healthcare landscape.
