Farewell to Seibu Shibuya: The Last 100 Days
Seibu Shibuya, a prominent landmark in Shibuya, Tokyo, has announced that it will cease operations on September 30, 2026. As the closing date approaches—only 100 days away—various events are planned to thank the community for its unwavering support over the years and allow customers to reflect on their cherished memories associated with the store.
Countdown to Closure
At the iconic storefront along Meiji Street, a countdown has begun to mark the remaining days until the store's closure. This visually striking countdown will showcase framed photographs capturing the essence of numerous events held over the decades, reminding visitors and loyal customers of the vibrant history shared with Seibu Shibuya. This display will be a heartfelt tribute to the store’s 58 years of service.
Reflecting on Our History: The Photo Exhibition
From July 8 to August 31, 2026, a special photo exhibition titled
#ShibuyaNoOmoiDe will take place in the B Building's promotional space. This exhibition will spotlight significant promotions and renovations since the store opened in 1968, allowing attendees to journey through time and witness the evolution of a retail icon.
Additionally, the store invites customers to share their personal memories in a dedicated message space at the exhibition. Seibu Shibuya encourages contributions through its official social media under the
#ShibuyaNoOmoiDe campaign, which allows fans to submit messages and photos. These contributions will be displayed in the A Building's windows starting September, culminating in a collective, community-driven farewell piece.
Exclusive Merchandise: Hachi Furu Plush Toys
In the spirit of celebrating the store's legacy, Seibu Shibuya is both excited and nostalgic to launch an exclusive plush toy,
Hachi Furu, available in a limited run of 100 units. This stylish plush, adorned in a blue jacket and headphones, embodies Shibuya's fashion-forward culture and is priced at 2,750 yen. The release date is set for July 8, 2026, at the underground Seibu Food Hall, offering fans a tangible keepsake to remember this beloved shopping destination.
Seibu Shibuya's emotional farewell, titled
'THE LAST ありがとう、渋谷。', is not just an end but a celebration of its unique place in the hearts of the community. This initiative serves as an open invitation for people to come together and share their favorite memories and experiences that have shaped the store’s legacy.
