Plantio Launches Community Farm 'Green Park TOGOSHI' in Shinagawa for Urban Agriculture Engagement

Plantio's New Initiative in Urban Agriculture: Green Park TOGOSHI

In a significant step towards democratizing agriculture and engaging communities, Plantio Inc., a social impact startup based in Shibuya, Tokyo, has opened a new community farm named 'Green Park TOGOSHI by grow' in Shinagawa. This project aims to create an inclusive agricultural infrastructure that allows everyone to participate, fostering a sense of community around agriculture and food.

The Vision Behind Green Park TOGOSHI

The initiative has been developed in collaboration with Hankyu Hanshin Properties, which owns the land in Togoshi, Tokyo. Scheduled to officially open on April 12, 2026, this community farm will integrate Plantio's digital farming platform, 'grow,' which is designed to make farming accessible and engaging for people of all backgrounds. Instead of offering individual plots in a traditional farming setup, Green Park TOGOSHI divides its approximately 100-pyo space into two sections: a shared farming zone and a plaza zone.

A Unique Farming Approach

The farming zone (approximately 50坪) employs a collaborative cultivation model, allowing members to collectively decide on crops and share the responsibilities of planting, nurturing, and harvesting. This innovative setup not only democratizes the farming experience but also ensures that even novice gardeners can successfully grow vegetables and fruits, thanks to the support of specialized farming staff. Regular harvest festivals will be organized to promote community bonding, food education, and environmental awareness.

Plaza for Community Engagement

On the other hand, the plaza zone (approximately 50坪) serves as a multifunctional space for community events, allowing local organizations to hold markets, workshops, and disaster preparedness training tailored to community needs. By creating an open and inviting environment, Green Park TOGOSHI seeks to enhance local vitality and contribute to sustainable urban development.

Harnessing Technology for Agricultural Interaction

At the heart of this initiative is the 'grow' platform developed by Plantio, which leverages IoT sensors and mobile applications to share information about crop growth and cultivation tips. This platform seamlessly connects the joy of growing with the delight of consuming fresh produce, aiming to integrate agricultural activities with entertainment. By lowering barriers to participation, the 'grow' platform endeavors to create multiple touchpoints for urban agriculture integration within commercial and residential spaces, as well as parks and other urban environments.

The Crowd Farming System

One of the standout features of the farm is the proprietary 'Crowd Farming System,' which utilizes AI and IoT technology to provide timely support for vegetable cultivation. This system connects with the 'grow CONNECT' sensor, offering real-time insights on soil conditions and crop health through the mobile app, making gardening an activity anyone can enjoy without requiring extensive expertise.

Environmental Sustainability and Community Well-being

Moreover, participants are encouraged to track their contributions towards environmental sustainability, such as reducing CO₂ emissions and converting food waste into compost. By visualizing the ecological impact of their actions, individuals can understand how they contribute to both environmental health and their own well-being.
