Grand Opening of Dorion Family Pediatric Center
On June 11, 2026, the Foundation of Community Hospice & Palliative Care proudly celebrated the grand opening of the Dorion Family Pediatric Center in Jacksonville, Florida. This milestone event was attended by over 300 community leaders, donors, families, and supporters, all joining to mark the significance of this new facility dedicated to providing compassionate care for children with serious medical conditions in Northeast Florida.
The Dorion Family Pediatric Center stands out as a unique establishment in that it is Florida's first pediatric hospice and palliative care center. It is also among a select few such centers across the entire United States. This facility has been designed specifically for pediatric patients, ensuring a nurturing environment that emphasizes comfort, dignity, play, and familial connection during challenging times.
The creation of the center was made possible through the generous support and vision of numerous donors and community supporters and is named after Dottie Dorion and her family, who have shown unwavering commitment to compassionate care, shaping the organization's philosophy and future.
Annie Tuttle, Vice President of Philanthropy and Community Impact, expressed that, "The Dorion Family Pediatric Center reflects the heart of this community and a deep commitment to ensuring children and families feel supported, connected, and cared for. This space will make a lasting difference by bringing resources, support, and a sense of community together in one place."
This center supports the Community PēdsCare program by centralizing various therapeutic services, caregiver support, psychosocial and spiritual care, as well as opportunities for children and their families to connect with others undergoing similar experiences. Reducing travel time for care teams enables clinicians to dedicate more time to delivering direct support for patients and their families.
At its core, pediatric hospice and palliative care encompass a focus on enabling children to lead fulfilling lives, honoring each moment while providing families with compassionate support throughout their journeys.
