GLOBO Language Solutions Reaches Semifinalist Stage in Massachusetts Digital Health Challenge

GLOBO Language Solutions Named Semifinalist in Massachusetts Digital Health Sandbox Challenge

On March 10, 2026, GLOBO Language Solutions announced an exciting milestone: the company has been selected as one of 24 U.S. semifinalists to advance in the Primary Care Innovation Challenge spearheaded by the Massachusetts Technology Collaborative's Massachusetts eHealth Institute (MeHI). This achievement comes out of a competitive field of 70 applicants, showcasing GLOBO’s innovative contributions to the healthcare landscape.

The Primary Care Innovation Challenge is designed to stimulate advances in digital health solutions that efficiently address some crucial challenges in primary care, including administrative burdens, workforce burnout, and enhancing patient access. Notably, the finalists of this challenge will have the opportunity to compete for up to $300,000 in grant funding aimed at supporting their innovative projects.

Dipak Patel, the CEO of GLOBO, expressed his excitement at the recognition, stating, "We congratulate all semifinalists committed to revitalizing primary care with the best innovative artificial intelligence and digital health solutions." He emphasized the pressing need for improvement in the primary care system, which is regarded as a fundamental component of effective healthcare for both individuals and communities. According to Patel, the current healthcare system is experiencing an unprecedented crisis, necessitating urgent enhancements to care delivery, efficiency, and affordability.

In line with its entry into the challenge, GLOBO plans to apply its unique methodology of deploying human interpreters on-site. This initiative will allow the company to evaluate the interactions and effectiveness of its AI healthcare interpreter in actual primary care settings that present minimal risk. The ultimate aim is to identify the best scenarios and use cases for scaling language services, thereby improving access for patients with limited English proficiency. This approach is anticipated to alleviate unnecessary patient loads in-person and ease the capacity constraints currently experienced in primary care facilities.

Understanding the Sandbox Challenge

The Primacy Care Innovation Challenge marks the fourth iteration of the Massachusetts Digital Health Sandbox Challenge, which serves as a platform connecting burgeoning digital health companies with advanced research and development facilities. These “sandboxes” play a critical role in accelerating product development and broadening customer bases among participants.

This initiative aligns with the objectives set forth by the Massachusetts Primary Care Access, Delivery and Payment Task Force, which was established in 2025. Co-chaired by the Health Policy Commission and the Massachusetts Executive Office of Health and Human Services (EOHHS), the task force aims to streamline and enhance primary care delivery across the state.

Keely Benson, Director of MeHI, remarked on the caliber of semifinalists: "The Primary Care Challenge semifinalists reflect a strong group of digital health startups that have developed meaningful solutions for clinical settings. By connecting these companies with leading research and academic institutions, we hope to tackle some of the most pressing obstacles facing primary care today."
