Join Us for the 21st Annual Bishop Rizzotto Golf Classic

St. Dominic Village, a respected nonprofit senior care community, is thrilled to announce the 21st Annual Bishop Rizzotto Golf Classic, taking place on March 17, 2025, at the scenic Wildcat Golf Club in Houston, Texas. This exciting event not only promises a day full of fun and engaging activities but also aims to raise crucial funds for the Compassionate Care Fund, which helps bridge the significant gap between Medicaid reimbursements and the actual costs of caring for residents

The tournament will be hosted on both of Wildcat’s beautiful courses, providing a perfect backdrop for golfers of all skill levels. Upon registration, participants will receive goody bags filled with goodies, enjoy a delicious box lunch provided by the renowned Eurasia Fusion Sushi Restaurant, and have an opportunity to purchase tickets for exclusive raffle items that may include extraordinary prizes and memorabilia. The day will culminate in an awards ceremony that recognizes both outstanding performances and the not-so-great ones, followed by a hearty dinner catered by Ragin' Cajun.

Highlighting this year’s event will be Matt Musil, a seasoned sports journalist from Houston, who will not only participate in the tournament but will also serve as the host for the awards dinner. His team will be a star-studded lineup featuring notable athletes such as former NFL running back Greg Hill, former Houston Astros pitcher Greg Swindell, and former Houston Oilers wide receiver Harold Bailey. Additionally, Reid Ryan, the ex-president of the Houston Astros and current owner and CEO of Ryan Sanders Baseball, will grace the event, accompanied by Houston City Councilmember Carolyn Evans-Shabazz.

This year, the tournament is chaired by Louis Pelz and Paul Layne, prominent business figures in Houston and dedicated members of the St. Dominic Village board. Their commitment has played a crucial role in the event's longstanding success, garnering both community support and participation over the years.

St. Dominic Village has been a cornerstone of senior care in the Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston for nearly five decades, having served over 30,000 residents over its lifetime. Committed to inclusivity, the organization welcomes all seniors regardless of their faith background, creating a safe, compassionate home where care is centered on faith and dignity. With diverse services ranging from Independent Living to Rehabilitation and Nursing Care, residents receive comprehensive support tailored to their physical, emotional, and spiritual needs.

As the only Catholic senior care facility in the area, St. Dominic Village stands firm in its mission to provide exceptional, mission-driven care, ensuring that no resident is turned away due to financial circumstances. Families entrust the well-being of their loved ones to this organization, often expressing heartfelt appreciation for its dedicated staff and nurturing environment.

To participate in this year's tournament, individual slots can be purchased for $375, while a foursome can join for $1,500. Unrealistically busy? You can still support the cause by sponsoring clergy members to take part instead.

“It is only with the support of our friends, donors, vendors, and volunteers that we are able to carry out our mission and serve the elderly of Houston,” quoted the late Bishop Rizzotto, reflecting the spirit of community involvement that underpins this event.

The tournament aims to bridge the funding gap, with all proceeds directly benefiting the residents of St. Dominic Village, enhancing their quality of life while promoting a secure and loving environment. Donations, whether from tournament involvement or additional sponsorship, are crucial to delivering the vital mission of "Caring for Our Elders with the Compassion of Christ."
