Harvard Pilgrim Health Care Expands Well-Being Solutions with Innovative Partnerships

Harvard Pilgrim Health Care Enhances Well-Being Solutions

Harvard Pilgrim Health Care, part of Point32Health, has recently unveiled several new partnerships and enhanced relationships with clinical and well-being organizations. This initiative is primarily focused on simplifying healthcare and supporting members in their health journeys. According to Jake Biscoglio, president of commercial markets specialty, employers and consumers are increasingly seeking accessible, affordable, and interconnected health care solutions. The newly expanded offerings are designed to provide members better access to preventive care, musculoskeletal care, pain management, and caregiver support.

New Programs and Partnerships

Hinge Health

In a significant step forward, Harvard Pilgrim has partnered with Hinge Health, an innovative digital musculoskeletal (MSK) care platform. Hinge Health offers personalized exercise therapy supported by a dedicated team of physical therapists and health coaches. The program aims to help members prevent injuries, manage pain, improve mobility, and facilitate rehabilitation before or after surgery. This service is available at no additional cost to members and is designed to be flexible, offering 24/7 access to resources. Features include technology-aided guidance for proper exercise form, movement analysis to track progress, assistance connecting to in-person care if needed, and immediate feedback on exercise adherence. Since its launch in July, over 2,000 members have signed up for the Hinge Health program.

Doctor On Demand

Additionally, Harvard Pilgrim is expanding its partnership with Doctor On Demand by Included Health, which will introduce a new virtual primary care benefit starting January 1, 2027. While members already have round-the-clock access to Doctor On Demand for urgent care and behavioral health, this new feature allows members to maintain an ongoing relationship with a primary care provider (PCP). This offering encompasses routine care, preventive screenings, chronic condition management, and more, all accessible via secure video, phone, or chat. Importantly, virtual PCPs can coordinate in-person services, including lab work and referrals, when necessary.

Wellthy

In another noteworthy collaboration, Harvard Pilgrim has partnered with Wellthy to assist members in managing caregiving responsibilities for themselves and their loved ones. This partnership is invaluable, particularly for families dealing with various caregiving challenges, whether or not the individuals in need of care are covered by the health plan. Through Wellthy's Care Concierge service, members receive personalized support for practical aspects of caregiving, including finding senior housing and coordinating daily caregiving tasks. Recent expansions of this partnership also include preparing for unexpected situations such as natural disasters and pet care needs.

Comprehensive Suite of Offerings

These new alliances are part of a broader set of services available to Harvard Pilgrim members. Other offerings include Ovia Health, which focuses on women’s and family health, and Meru Health, an online mental health program for both teens and adults. Moreover, the Harvard Pilgrim Healthy Weight program from NationsNutrition supports members in their weight loss journeys and encourages healthier eating habits. To further enhance wellness initiatives, employers can leverage Lifestyle Spending Accounts from Health Equity, which allow employees to receive reimbursement for various health and wellness services, complementing Harvard Pilgrim's programs.

Edge of Innovation

Deanne Wherry, vice president of product strategy and innovation at Harvard Pilgrim, emphasized that the organization strives to deliver comprehensive solutions while maintaining robust support for both employers and members. This multifaceted approach differentiates Harvard Pilgrim in a competitive market, offering competitive solutions combined with responsive service aimed at improving member access to healthcare guidance.

These developments mark a significant shift in how Harvard Pilgrim is approaching healthcare, placing an emphasis on whole-person support and adaptability to meet individual member needs. As the landscape of healthcare continues to evolve, these innovations will likely play a crucial role in shaping the future of member wellbeing.
