Dive into the Magical World of Eric Carle this Summer!

From July 4 to August 31, 2026, families are invited to an extraordinary adventure during the "Hungry Caterpillar Summer Vacation!" event at PLAY! PARK ERIC CARLE, the only children’s park in the world that brings Eric Carle’s whimsical creations to life. Located in Setagaya, Tokyo, this unique park, operated by A&B Holdings, dedicates itself to nurturing children's curiosity about nature and creatures through the art and play.

Special Workshops and Activities

Guests can participate in eight different workshops inspired by Eric Carle’s iconic artwork and the seasonal wonders of summer. Each day offers a new opportunity to engage in art and movement, making the most of this interactive experience.

1. PLAY! Hand ART! – Pineapple
Children can create their own art by using their handprints and footprints to embellish illustrations, specifically designed around the vibrant theme of pineapples for summer. No reservations are needed, welcoming participants from the age of 0 and up to make lasting family memories.

2. PLAY! SPORTS! BABY! – Let’s Play at the Beach
In this lively session, toddlers can interact with colorful beach and watermelon balls in a discovery zone filled with summer vibes and ocean creatures. Reservations on the day are required, aimed at younger children from 0 to 2 years old.

3. Candy Art – Little Cloud
Kids over 3 years old will enjoy shaping warm candy into various cloud designs as they recreate the playful visuals inspired by the book, “The Little Cloud.” This workshop requires prior reservation and has a participation fee of 660 yen.

4. Seasonal Hide and Seek
Families can team up to search the park for hidden insects, receiving a unique sticker as a reward for finding them all. Reservations aren’t needed, perfect for kids aged 3 and above to engage in a fun scavenger hunt.

5. Create Your Little Cloud
A crafting workshop themed after “The Little Cloud” invites children aged 5 and over to cut cotton sheets into their desired shapes and design their very own floating cloud. Reservations are required for this creative activity.

6. PLAY! Finger ART! – Firefly
Kids age 3 and up can use glow-in-the-dark paint to illustrate fireflies in the dark, allowing them to explore the beauty of luminescence. No reservation is necessary.

7. Hungry Caterpillar Quiz!
Families can test their knowledge about Eric Carle’s favorite creatures and natural elements through fun quizzes, seeking hidden clues in the park. No reservation is necessary for this interactive quiz session for kids aged 3 and above.

8. Create a Beautiful Home for the Hermit Crab
Utilizing colorful craft paper, this workshop allows children 3 years and older to create and decorate a unique home for a hermit crab, inspired by the story from "The Hermit Crab's Move." Reservations are needed for participation.

Since its opening in November 2021, PLAY! PARK ERIC CARLE has become a vibrant space filled with Eric Carle’s signature colorful illustrations. The park encompasses various exciting areas including mazes and athletic facilities where children can freely explore and learn through play. Daily workshops tailored for different age groups allow families to connect while fostering creativity and learning.
