A Dreamy Summer Vacation for NUKUNUKU Children in Fukui
Recently, children from the experience-based children's cafeteria "NUKUNUKU" in Edogawa Ward were invited by the Sugimoto Ikubun Cultural Foundation to participate in the "Summer Sumo Viewing Tour in Fukui." This initiative aims to provide valuable experiences and unforgettable memories for children who cannot travel during summer due to family circumstances. The two-day itinerary included traveling on the Hokuriku Shinkansen, visiting a dinosaur museum, exploring Eiheiji temple, and enjoying the excitement of Sumo wrestling up close.
Summary of the "Summer Sumo Viewing Tour"
This dream trip, organized by the non-profit organization Lion Heart, is aligned with their mission of providing a rich and happy life for all children by increasing their opportunities for experiential activities. With cooperation from the Sugimoto Ikubun Cultural Foundation, nine individuals, including six children and three accompanying adults, participated in the trip to Fukui. The foundation has consistently donated Fukui-grown rice every month, and their collaboration began about four years ago when founder Namiko Sugimoto and Director Ikuto Sugimoto resonated with the NPO's vision.
The invitation to the "Fukui Sumo Event" is particularly significant as the foundation had long wished for children's participation. All costs for Sumo tickets, tickets to the dinosaur museum, round-trip Shinkansen fares, and accommodation were covered by the foundation, ensuring a rich summer experience for the children.
