STG Logistics' Innovative Green Haul Solution Recognized for Supply Chain Excellence in 2025
STG Logistics' Green Haul Solution Earns Top Supply Chain Award
STG Logistics, a prominent player in containerized logistics, has recently been awarded the prestigious 2025 Top Supply Chain Projects Award by the esteemed publications, Supply & Demand Chain Executive and Food Logistics. This accolade highlights the innovative efforts in enhancing supply chain processes and environmental sustainability through their Green Haul Solution.
The recognition comes at a time when many supply chain players are increasingly looking to adapt their operations to meet the demands for efficiency and ecological responsibility. The Green Haul Solution directly responds to a growing request from STG's customers for more sustainable and efficient freight transport methods.
One significant aspect of the challenge is the environmentally damaging emissions associated with typical freight operations. According to research, a standard passenger vehicle can release approximately 4.6 metric tons of carbon dioxide annually. As STG's customers expressed the need for a decline in the number of on-site delivery trucks — which often leads to congested conditions at storage facilities — the Green Haul program was born.
This initiative notably comprises a streamlined loading process that replaces traditional delivery trucks with containers that travel in and out of customer facilities. By minimizing the number of trucks entering warehouses, it not only reduces traffic congestion but also helps in cutting down emissions significantly. In fact, STG's program reportedly saves the equivalent of removing 14 passenger vehicles from the roads, leading to an annual reduction of 68.79 metric tons of CO2 emissions.
As Vince Paperiello, Executive Vice President and Group President of Transportation at STG states, “Our Green Haul program has resulted in emissions savings... This not only maximizes our drivers’ time but also allows STG to provide customers with highly competitive rates, which is essential during volatile market conditions.”
The implementation of the Green Haul Solution demonstrates how modern supply chain entities can thrive amidst challenges by embracing advanced techniques and technologies. The initiatives also align with the expectations of many stakeholders who demand increased visibility and transparency in logistics operations.
Marina Mayer, editor-in-chief of both publications, emphasizes the importance of cooperation in achieving supply chain success, noting that celebrating such projects and partnerships is essential for the industry's progress.
Beyond the direct environmental benefits, STG's Green Haul enables cost savings through optimized backhaul processes and a reduction in empty transportation miles. Moreover, it enhances access to STG's expansive intermodal network, positioning the company as a leader in compliance with Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) standards.
As a trusted logistics provider for over four decades, STG Logistics operates a variety of services including asset-based intermodal transportation, warehouse management, and drayage services across the United States. This experience bolsters their commitment to innovation and efficiency, enabling them to cater effectively to a demanding logistics market.
The recognition of STG Logistics’ Green Haul illustrates a significant step forward in the collective journey towards sustainable logistics practices that not only benefit businesses but the environment as well. With ongoing developments, STG is poised to continue setting industry standards and paving the way for responsible supply chain solutions.
