Okinawa Beach Sports Festival 2026 Welcomes Local Soccer Team DEIGOS!

Exciting Announcement for Okinawa Beach Sports Festival 2026

On February 7th (Saturday), the Okinawa Beach Sports Festival 2026 will kick off with a special initiative called the “Barefoot Sports Day for Kids,” featuring local women's soccer team, Ryukyu DEIGOS. This innovative event aims to promote beach sports across the region, with the participation of various sports organizations such as the Japan Frescoball Association (JFBA) and the Japan Beach Tennis Federation (JFBT).

Entering its third year, the Okinawa Beach Sports Festival stands out for its unique concept, where participants are encouraged to try all beach sports rather than just focusing on one. On the first day, players will engage in their chosen sport, while the second day invites them to explore other activities and broaden their skills.

The festival is not only about competition but also aims to boost the popularity of beach sports, bringing vitality to winter in Okinawa. This year, the “Barefoot Sports Day for Kids” will run concurrently, managed by the NPO Japan Beach Culture Promotion Association, working towards this event becoming a staple that embraces a wider audience.

Ryukyu DEIGOS, known for their aspirations to reach a global stage, will join forces for the sports day. The team enjoys significant local support, and this collaboration is driven by their commitment to contribute to safeguarding Okinawa's beautiful oceans while supporting the healthy development of children within the community. Together, they aim to inspire a connection between youth and sports, emphasizing the importance of nature and exercise.

The event promises to be filled with fun activities such as “flying sandals” and “piggyback relays”, encouraging families to participate alongside the enthusiastic Ryukyu DEIGOS players. With beach clean-up efforts integrated into the day's activities and a special music video shoot with the group ChakarLand scheduled, this year’s festival aims to be as enriching as it is enjoyable.

Due to the decline in opportunities for children to play barefoot outdoors, this festival serves as a refreshing platform reconnecting families with nature through the power of sport. And best of all, participation is free! For more information, visit the official event page: Okinawa Beach Sports Festival 2026.
