Financial Inclusion Week 2025 Online Event
Financial Inclusion Week (FIW) 2025 is set to take place online from
October 6-9, 2025. Organized by
Kaihatsu Management Consulting in collaboration with the
Center for Financial Inclusion (CFI) based in Washington, D.C., this global event aims to foster a society where everyone has access to essential financial services. FIW offers a platform for sharing knowledge and experiences to support those who have traditionally faced barriers to financial access, including low-income groups, small-scale farmers, women, the elderly, and people living in rural areas.
What is Financial Inclusion Week?
Launched in 2015, FIW has grown significantly over the years. By last year’s 10th anniversary, the event attracted over
3,100 participants from 143 countries, engaging in discussions around the theme of "The Future of Finance: Shaping the Next Decade of Financial Inclusion." Over
43 hours of live sessions were held, showcasing various approaches to financial inclusion.
Theme for 2025: "Cultivating Resilience and Wellbeing in Uncertain Times"
The theme for this year focuses on how individuals can enhance their livelihoods through financial support amid multiple pressing challenges. Advances in technology have improved access to financial services for many over the last decade. However, emerging issues such as economic shocks, climate change, geopolitical instability, and digital fraud continue to pose threats. FIW2025 will address these challenges, emphasizing how to harness finance to protect and nurture people’s wellbeing, especially in terms of rebuilding digital finance as a secure tool for growth.
Connecting Globally and Sharing from Japan
Participants from the banking sector, microfinance institutions, fintech firms, policymakers, and researchers will have the opportunity to showcase their initiatives during FIW. The sessions will be open for submissions, where the CFI selection committee will evaluate the content. Registered participants can view the sessions either live or on-demand. Notably, this year, presentations can be made in languages other than English, including Japanese, making it more accessible for diverse audiences. Being an entirely online event allows participation from anywhere in the world with ease.
Sharing Japan's Experiences with the World
Japan faces its own unique challenges, such as an aging population, gender disparity, and rural decline, which affect its socially vulnerable individuals. The advancements in digital technology have also led to increased risks like fraud and information gaps. Economic stagnation and concerns regarding social security contribute to the anxieties faced by many citizens. These issues are not just local but resonate worldwide. FIW presents a brilliant opportunity to learn from international practices while sharing Japan's valuable experiences. Your contributions could ignite hope for someone around the globe.
