Unveiling the World of Taroman: A Special Exhibition
Starting from September 14, a unique exhibition titled
“Nonsense! Taroman Grand Expo” will commence at Shibuya PARCO on the 8th floor of
Hobonichi Sunday. This event is held to commemorate the release of the new film,
“Great Long Edition Taroman: The Great Expo Explosion.” The original TV drama
“TAROMAN,” aired on NHK E-Tele in 2022, was inspired by the words and artworks of renowned artist Taro Okamoto, presented in the guise of a 1970s superhero program.
Showcasing Majestic Creatures and Film Props
The exhibition will feature a plethora of puppets and props from the
Taroman franchise, including various huge creatures that fans recognize from the series. These creatures, which tower over buildings in the film, evoke a sense of wonder through their scale. Attendees can expect to be amazed as many of these figures will be showcased for the first time. Notably, the fearsome creature
“Myth of Tomorrow,” renowned for its overwhelming energy, along with other familiar beasts and
CBG team members from the TV show, will make an appearance. Visitors can also enjoy special photo spots to snap memorable moments with Taroman characters.
A Special Collection by Ikegami from Sakanaction
A notable feature of the exhibition is the collection belonging to
Ichiro Yamaguchi of the band
Sakanaction, who plays the role of a big Taroman fan. In the latter part of the TV series, there is a segment called
“Taroman and Me,” where Yamaguchi expresses his childhood admiration for Taroman, analyzing the work and sharing his passion for both Taroman and Taro Okamoto. More than 30 rare items from this fictional collection will be displayed, showcasing the creativity behind this whimsical exhibition. Please note that these items are not real but are crafted meticulously as part of the exhibition’s narrative, allowing viewers to enjoy a blend of reality and imagination.
Exclusive Taroman Goods and More!
In the venue shop, an abundance of Taroman merchandise and products inspired by Okamoto's work will be available for purchase. Additionally, guests who spend over 2,000 yen in the shop will receive a
“Tarobure-su,” a paper wristband reminiscent of the items featured in the movie, as a gift. This nostalgic item is designed to bring out the fun in both adults and children and serves as a delightful keepsake to remember the exhibit.
Note: Each visitor can only receive one wristband, subject to availability.
