HCLTech Climate Action Grant: Supporting Climate Solutions Across the Americas
In an inspiring initiative aimed at combating climate change,
HCLTech recently announced the winners of its third edition of the
Climate Action Grant in the Americas. This year, the technology giant is allocating
$1 million in funding to three nonprofit organizations working tirelessly to advance scalable climate solutions in vulnerable regions.
Selected Recipients
The
recipient of the largest share of funding, the
CISP (Comitato Internazionale per lo Sviluppo dei Popoli) based in Guatemala, will receive
$500,000. Meanwhile,
Aves Argentinas and
Isla Urbana from Argentina and Mexico, respectively, will each be awarded
$250,000 to scale their impactful initiatives. This collective funding aims to significantly improve water security, promote biodiversity conservation, and enhance access to clean water in regions heavily impacted by climate change.
Project Highlights
- - CISP is set to focus on enhancing water security and sustainable land management in Guatemala's dry corridor. They plan on implementing rainwater harvesting strategies with the ambitious goal of providing clean water access to 200 families.
- - Aves Argentinas will work on ecological restoration efforts within the Atlantic Forest region of the Iguazú river basin, boasting a target of restoring an impressive 790 hectares of land and promoting biodiversity conservation.
- - Isla Urbana's project aims to develop community-based rainwater harvesting systems in Mexico's water-stressed regions, with an expected impact on around 2,300 individuals, resulting in 4.2 million liters of harvested water.
This year’s edition of the
Climate Action Grant is notable for its substantial increase in competition, with applications coming from
10 countries across the Americas: Argentina, Brazil, Canada, Colombia, Costa Rica, Guatemala, Mexico, Panama, Peru, and the United States. This marks a
