LTS Teams Up with Nagano to Drive AI Innovation

LTS Inc., a consulting firm based in Minato, Tokyo, has announced it will oversee a project under the "Shinshu Sandbox" initiative. This project aims to match local companies in Nagano with AI developers across Japan, fostering innovation to address various business and regional challenges. Starting May 14, 2026, a dedicated website will launch, enabling local firms and AI developers to propose challenges and solutions.

What is the Shinshu Sandbox Project?

The goal of the Shinshu Sandbox Project, dubbed “Shinshu AI GEARS,” is to create a supportive ecosystem of innovation by connecting local industries and companies with national AI experts. By leveraging the region's diverse industries and rich natural resources, the aim is to initiate and accelerate new business challenges that can lead to the development of groundbreaking services and industries.

Selected participants will receive subsidies for development testing costs (with a cap of 8 million yen, covering up to 100% of expenses, and around five projects expected to be approved).

The project identifies gears as its central motif—symbolizing collaboration and the interlocking pieces needed to advance the future of Nagano, with the letter “S” representing the synergy created through these partnerships. Through innovative collaborations, local businesses and developers are invited to come together to steer the future of Shinshu.

How to Participate

There are two main participation routes available, with entry now open for both methods:

Challenge Proposal Type

Local businesses are encouraged to submit their challenges and areas in which they seek innovative solutions.

Free Proposal Type

AI developers are invited to propose the solutions they wish to implement.
