Ryan Long Joins Paragon Health Institute as Director of Congressional Relations
Ryan Long Takes a Leading Role at Paragon Health Institute
In a significant development for healthcare policy, Ryan Long has recently been appointed as the Director of Congressional Relations and Senior Research Fellow at Paragon Health Institute. This organization is recognized for its commitment to research and market-oriented policy solutions aimed at improving health outcomes. Long, who previously served as a senior policy advisor to former House Speaker Kevin McCarthy, brings over 25 years of invaluable experience in health policy and legislative processes.
Long's expertise will be pivotal in bridging the gap between Paragon's research initiatives and the legislative body. His new responsibilities will involve not only promoting Paragon's proposals to Congress but also educating policymakers and their teams about crucial health policy issues. One of his notable initiatives will be leading the Congressional Health Policy Education Program. This series of seminars is designed for congressional staff, the press, and the general public, with the goal of fostering a deeper understanding of health policies and encouraging informed discussion among stakeholders.
Throughout his career, Long has been a key player in shaping conservative health care policies. He began his journey in politics under the mentorship of Representatives Charlie Norwood and Joe Barton, eventually joining the House Committee on Energy and Commerce. His ascent through the ranks saw him become Chief Health Counsel and later the deputy and eventually staff director. His tenure included critical periods as the committee worked on significant health legislation, including the Affordable Care Act.
Former Speaker Kevin McCarthy remarked on Long's transition, emphasizing that Ryan's extensive background in health policy and his success in navigating complex legislative processes make him an ideal fit for Paragon.
