New Jersey's New Approach to Strengthening Family Bonds
New Jersey is taking notable strides toward supporting families and preventing out-of-home placements with the launch of its statewide Brief Strategic Family Therapy (BSFT) initiative. Partnering with Empower Community Care, the New Jersey Department of Children and Families (NJ DCF) is rolling out this innovative program across all 21 counties, providing family-centered services aimed at reinforcing family relationships and stabilizing youth.
The new BSFT program is not just a random collection of services; it is a robust, evidence-based model designed to address family dynamics comprehensively. With the backing of the Family First Prevention Services Act (FFPSA), the initiative has successfully established a structured network for training, consultation, and quality improvement.
