Global Link Management Achieves Third-Party Certification for GHG Emissions and Social Data

Global Link Management's Commitment to Sustainability

In a determined effort to bolster its climate responsibility, Global Link Management Co., Ltd. (GLM), headquartered in Shibuya, Tokyo, has achieved third-party certification from LRQA for its greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions data. This significant milestone is not just a testament to GLM's commitment to sustainability but also assures the accuracy and reliability of the environmental and social data it reports.

Starting January 1, 2024, up until December 31, 2024, GLM plans to publish its environmental and social data on its website. This data will be subject to third-party verification in accordance with ISAE 3000 and ISO 14064-3:2019 standards. The scope of verification includes not only GHG emissions but also vital social indicators such as the ratio of female executives and health check-up participation rates.

The Scope of Verification

The certification encompasses a comprehensive range of environmental data:
  • - Scope 1 GHG emissions (measured in tons of CO2e): Direct emissions from owned or controlled sources, such as fuel combustion.
  • - Scope 2 GHG emissions: Indirect emissions related to the consumption of purchased energy, divided into market-based and location-based measures.
  • - Scope 3 GHG emissions: All other indirect emissions that occur in the value chain, including categories like procurement of raw materials and waste disposal.
  • - Energy consumption: Measured in MWh, is also part of the verification process.

Alongside the environmental metrics, social data being verified includes:
  • - Ratio of female executives (%): A crucial indicator of gender representation within management.
  • - Ratio of female employees (%): Reflecting the company's commitment to diversity.
  • - Injury/disease cases related to occupational accidents: A measure of workplace safety.
  • - Health check-up participation rate (%): Indicating the company's focus on employee wellbeing.

Why Third-Party Verification Matters

GLM emphasizes the importance of addressing climate-related risks as a core component of its strategic approach. The third-party verification process is part of a broader initiative to ensure transparency and accountability in its sustainability efforts. By obtaining an independent assurance statement from LRQA, GLM not only enhances the credibility of its data but also positions itself as a leader in responsible investment properties, aligning with global sustainability goals.

Long-term Vision: Carbon Neutrality and Social Responsibility

The company's overarching philosophy is to create a rich society through real estate, and they recognize that sustaining long-term growth requires a commitment to both environmental and social governance. The recent third-party certification serves as a cornerstone for ongoing efforts toward achieving carbon neutrality.

GLM aims to integrate its business strategy with its sustainability objectives, demonstrating that environmental responsibility and corporate growth can indeed coexist. As a continuous endeavor, they remain dedicated to promoting a sustainable society while achieving their business goals.
