Revolutionizing AI Infrastructure: Flex Unveils 800 VDC Power Rack with NVIDIA

Flex Debuts the Game-Changing 800 VDC Power Rack

Flex, in partnership with NVIDIA, has just unveiled the cutting-edge 800 VDC Power Rack, designed specifically to elevate the efficiency of AI infrastructure supported by NVIDIA's Vera Rubin platform. This innovative solution aims to address the rising demands for powerful computing in data centers and represents a significant leap forward in the delivery of power solutions.

The Need for Advanced Power Infrastructure

In today's digital age, the demand for megawatt-scale AI workloads has surged. Traditional power distribution systems have struggled to keep pace with the requirements of modern high-performance computing environments. Flex's latest offering responds to this challenge by adopting the 800 VDC architecture, a new standard that easily meets the energy needs of advanced AI applications. With power density and system complexity on the rise, such an approach ensures optimum performance while enhancing energy efficiency.

Chris Butler, President of Embedded and Critical Power at Flex, stated, "Megawatt-scale AI workloads are redefining what's required from data center power infrastructure." The 800 VDC Power Rack combines innovative power products with the manufacturing capabilities of Flex, facilitating efficient and scalable power delivery.

Features and Capabilities

The 800 VDC Power Rack is tailored for the NVIDIA Vera Rubin platform, structured around a disaggregated architecture. By relocating power products out of the IT rack, this design optimizes space, allowing for dense GPU configurations. As a result, more GPUs can be integrated into each rack, enhancing communication efficiency and delivering superior value from the IT hardware. In essence, the 800 VDC Power Rack enables existing data centers to support high power density workloads seamlessly, without the need for extensive retrofitting.

When coupled with future GPU platforms, this architecture can escalate available compute power per rack dramatically from about 125 kW to an impressive 880 kW. Additionally, Flex includes enhanced options such as Battery Backup Units (BBUs) and Capacitor Backup Units (CBUs) that bolster the resiliency of critical AI workloads against disruptions from grid disturbances or outages.

Global Manufacturing Support

The robust design of the 800 VDC Power Rack is complemented by Flex's extensive manufacturing and supply chain network. This global presence ensures that the deployment of next-generation AI infrastructure is both speedy and resilient. Notably, Flex can manufacture these power racks within North America, providing customers with greater flexibility and regional support.

Showcasing Innovation

For enthusiasts eager to learn more, the Flex 800 VDC Power Rack will be prominently featured at the upcoming NVIDIA GTC event between March 16 and 19, 2026. Attendees are encouraged to visit Flex at Booth 138 for more insights into this groundbreaking product.
