Phoenix Tower International Begins Exclusive Negotiations for Acquisition of Bouygues Telecom and SFR Sites

In a significant move poised to reshape the telecommunications landscape in France, Phoenix Tower International (PTI) has announced the initiation of exclusive negotiations with Bouygues Telecom and SFR. The focus of this acquisition is approximately 3,700 wireless sites managed under a joint venture known as Infracos, where both Bouygues Telecom and SFR equally share stakes. This strategic acquisition is forecasted to bolster PTI's portfolio within France to nearly 10,000 sites, enhancing their capacity to deliver exceptional connectivity across the nation.

PTI's venture into the French market began in 2020 with an ambitious goal: to support the development of mobile networks in underprivileged rural areas strictly connected to the New Deal initiative. Following this, the company made strides in 2023 by acquiring high-density urban site portfolios. The anticipated acquisition from Bouygues Telecom and SFR marks a striking milestone for PTI, enabling it to secure its status as a national provider in both urban and suburban zones across the entire geographical spread of France.

According to PTI's executives, the potential acquisition remains subject to consultation with the French works council and customary regulatory approvals. Dagan Kasavana, PTI's CEO, expressed enthusiasm about the acquisition, stating, "This transaction would be an exciting and natural progression in our growth journey alongside well-established partners in a market where we already have an exceptional local team. We are tremendously proud to strengthen our presence in France and fortify our relationships with Bouygues Telecom and SFR, thereby facilitating their 5G rollout and providing top-notch services to their clients."

Benoît Torloting, the CEO of Bouygues Telecom, echoed this sentiment, highlighting the enduring collaboration between the companies. "This agreement reflects our aim of augmenting our long-standing partnership with PTI and our collective dedication to strengthening high-quality telecommunications infrastructure in the French market to ensure superior customer experiences nationwide."

The joint venture has been vital for both companies since 2014, and this transition signals the dawning of a new era of consistent excellence for this segment of the network. This acquisition will not only fortify PTI’s footprint in France but also enhance the quality of services users receive, evidence ofPTI’s unwavering commitment to investing in high-quality digital infrastructure across the nation.

Phoenix Tower International operates with an overarching aim to associate with top mobile operators in order to provide prime infrastructure solutions that will shape digital connectivity's future. Pro forma data from this potential transaction suggests that PTI would manage approximately 33,000 towers across Europe, the United States, Latin America, and the Caribbean.
