United Risk Unveils Applied Logistics Underwriters
In a significant move aimed at enhancing logistics and maritime insurance, United Risk has officially launched
Applied Logistics Underwriters (ALU), headed by industry veteran, Alejandro "Alex" Rosas-Salgado. Announced by Rick Christofer, President and Chief Commercial Officer, this new division is set to provide crucial coverage in logistics, transportation, and maritime sectors through innovative and technology-driven acceptance practices.
ALU has initiated its operations from Miramar, Florida, focusing initially on addressing the needs of U.S. clients before expanding its reach into key global markets. The mission? To become the primary resource for a range of logistics and insurance products, including carrier liability, freight forwarder liability, and warehouse legal liability amongst others. According to Rosas, these strategic expansions will allow ALU to tap into the vast potential offered by both American and international markets.
"With our technological innovations and the expertise of our team in every facet of coverage, we are poised to elevate our connections and resolve historically inefficient lines in the logistics sector," Rosas emphasized. The advent of ALU comes at a time when the logistics industry grapples with complexities in transaction methods, and United Risk seeks to redefine these paradigms by introducing a model supported by substantial historical data paired with insurer experience.
ALU aims to address the industry's pressing needs, such as easing complex reporting burdens and cultivating solutions in associated niche markets. Christofer remarks on the initiative's foundation, highlighting a clear industry gap in excellence regarding transaction methodologies and challenges associated with risk management.
The division's approach signifies a notable shift from traditional underwriting, striving to replace the existing paradigm that solely relies on an insurer's past experience with a model that integrates robust historical data to inform decision-making. This innovative approach illustrates ALU’s commitment to modernizing logistics insurance, marking it as a pioneering force in the field.
Alex Rosas brings over 155 years of family heritage in insurance and an impressive career spanning various roles within the sector. Starting as an intern at just 16, his experience has grown to include significant responsibilities in logistics and marine underwriting, making him one of the hybrid underwriters in the U.S. His previous positions at noteworthy companies, including Integrand Assurance Company and Sompo International, further bolster his expertise in the domain.
As the landscape of logistics and maritime insurance evolves, United Risk's Applied Logistics Underwriters stands ready to meet the increasing demands of the industry, promising a culture of streamlined service and comprehensive support. The launch is not just a step forward for United Risk, but a leap towards redefining a sector that is crucial to global commerce, and one that is often fraught with inefficiencies.
