Tellurian Behavioral Health Sets to Open New Detox Center Thanks to Fairway Home Mortgage
Tellurian Behavioral Health's New Detox Program in Madison
Tellurian Behavioral Health is preparing to open a medically monitored drug detoxification center in Madison, Wisconsin. This new facility will replace an older one that had to cease operations due to funding challenges. Set to launch in early 2026, the detox program will be housed in a renovated building located at 702 W. Main Street. This initiative has been made possible through the financial support of Fairway Home Mortgage, a local mortgage lender that provided the funding needed for both the purchase and renovation of the property.
The primary aim of the detox program is to provide a safe and supportive environment for individuals grappling with substance use disorders. According to officials from Tellurian, this new center will not only free up resources for local hospitals but also assist law enforcement by significantly reducing the time required for medical clearances from an average of eight hours to just 20 minutes. This efficiency will allow more beds at hospitals to be available for patients facing medical emergencies, improving overall community health responses.
Kevin Florek, the CEO of Tellurian Behavioral Health, expressed his organization’s commitment to aiding those in need, stating, “This move allows us to continue our legacy of helping those in desperate need in a newly remodeled, trauma-informed environment where patients can begin their recovery journey with greater comfort and dignity.” He highlighted the importance of this new facility in serving the community, marking it as a vital resource for individuals seeking recovery.
Meanwhile, Steve Jacobson, the CEO of Fairway Home Mortgage, shared a personal connection to this initiative. He and his sister, Sherri Anderson, lost their father to alcohol addiction, and Steve himself has battled similar challenges in the past. Their family's experiences motivated them to support Tellurian’s mission. Jacobson remarked, “We know how addiction can ravage lives, and we've seen the good things that Kevin and Tellurian do in the Madison area. It’s vital that we help keep them going.”
To honor Steve Jacobson's late father, the new facility has been named “Jake’s Place.” This gesture reflects a personal commitment to supporting individuals facing addiction and ensuring they receive the help they desperately need. Julie Fry, Chairman of the Board at Tellurian and Chief Human Resources Officer at Fairway, emphasized the collective effort required to keep such non-profit organizations afloat, praising Jacobson's quick action to provide crucial funding when they learned the detox center was at risk of closing.
“Steve's generous contribution came at a critical time,” Fry noted. “It was a powerful reminder of what happens when people step up for a mission that truly matters.”
The community's assistance will be instrumental in continuing the facility’s operations. Kevin Florek highlighted the importance of sustaining this initiative and expressed gratitude towards anyone willing to follow Jacobson's example by making contributions. Donations to support the new detox program can be made through Tellurian’s website at tellurian.org.
With addiction becoming an increasingly pressing issue in many communities, the opening of Jake’s Place is seen as a beacon of hope. It represents a much-needed step toward addressing substance abuse in a compassionate and effective manner. As the issue of addiction continues to garner more public attention, initiatives like this one could significantly change the landscape of treatment options available, ultimately saving lives and fostering recovery for those in need.
