Midea Showcases Sustainable Innovations at IFA 2025 to Advance Low Carbon Goals
Midea's Sustainable Innovations at IFA 2025
Midea, a leader in the HVAC industry, made waves at IFA 2025 with its commitment to sustainability, embodying the philosophy of "GREEN VISION, BLUE FUTURE." The showcase highlighted a robust array of innovations designed to reduce carbon emissions and promote energy efficiency. This exhibition not only illustrated Midea's advanced research and development capabilities but also underscored its long-term dedication to environmental stewardship.
Commitment to R290 Solutions
One of the standout features of Midea's presentation was its pioneering use of R290 refrigerant, which the company has championed for over 15 years. Midea launched the world's first R290 demonstration production line, supported by the United Nations, in 2010 and has since led the global adoption of this eco-friendly refrigerant. The company operates 12 advanced R290 production lines with a staggering annual capacity of 6.4 million units, contributing to quantifiable reductions in carbon emissions worldwide.
Additionally, Midea has played a crucial role in establishing international standards for refrigerants, promoting the natural refrigerant R290 throughout the HVAC industry. Backed by a formidable team of over 10,000 R&D experts and 42 pilot laboratories, Midea offers a comprehensive range of R290 products.
A notable innovation is the H-Pack, a hybrid indoor heat pump developed by Midea's European R&D and design teams. Utilizing R290, this heat pump combines high energy efficiency with a compact design free of external units, facilitating seamless integration with gas boilers for reliable heating even in extreme cold conditions.
The Raynor Heat Pump
Another highlight from Midea is the Raynor low-temperature air source heat pump. With an impressive A+++ energy rating and an industry-leading SCOP of 5.1, Raynor ranks among the most efficient heat pumps available. Prototype testing revealed its capability to operate reliably in temperatures as low as -40 °C, providing a maximum heating capacity of 5.0 kW at -25 °C and achieving peak output of up to 8.0 kW.
Designed to withstand the challenges of coastal Nordic climates, Raynor boasts exceptional durability and efficiency. Its anti-freeze and anti-corrosion technologies, including Prime Guard Hyper Graphene, a specially designed chassis with a heated bottom plate, and long-lasting ceramic ball bearings known for their Flash Defrost performance, ensure reliability even in harsh conditions. Recognized for its innovation, Raynor has garnered several international accolades, including the iF Design Award and Red Dot Design Award.
At IFA 2025, Midea's leadership in advanced heating solutions was further validated when Leif Lindner, CEO of IFA Management, presented the Gold Award for Excellent Heating Technology Innovation to Vincent Chou, Vice President of Midea Residential Air Conditioning, and Ralph Kobsik, Managing Director of Midea Europe GmbH.
AI-Driven Comfort with Solstice
Midea also introduced the Solstice air conditioning unit, powered by AI, featuring a 180° oscillating wind deflector for unmatched comfort. This unit offers rapid heating and cooling to efficiently meet daily needs. At the heart of Solstice lies Midea's latest AI engine, ECOMASTER, which has been pre-trained with billions of data points to predict environmental changes and optimize energy consumption with remarkable accuracy. As a result, Solstice can maintain a comfortable temperature within a ±0.3 °C margin while reducing energy usage by over 30%.
Additionally, Midea announced its collaboration with Microsoft to provide natural voice control through AI, enabled by Microsoft Azure. This technology will allow users to interact conversationally with their air conditioning systems in any of the 145 available languages.
In summary, Midea's presentation at IFA 2025 reinforced its commitment to sustainable living. By merging advanced engineering, design excellence, and market insights, Midea is leading the transition towards a low-carbon future. The company continues to deliver energy-efficient solutions that harmonize environmental responsibility with everyday comfort.
