Overview of the Workshop
On August 1, 2026, Walker Co., which operates the 3D printing school '3DLab' in Tokyo, will host a special summer workshop titled 'Create Your Own Original Figure with AI and 3D Printing' in collaboration with the domestic 3D printer manufacturer, Mutoh Industry. This family-friendly event aims to provide an engaging, hands-on experience for children and their parents, allowing them to design and create unique figurines facilitated by advanced technologies.
Background of the Event
With the rapid proliferation of generative AI, transforming ideas into tangible creations has never been easier. However, practical experiences for children to interact with AI and digital fabrication, allowing them to see their concepts come to life, remain scarce. This collaboration between Walker and Mutoh aims to bridge that gap, providing a unique opportunity to witness the 'Japanese craftsmanship' in person while also embracing modern tech innovations.
Three Unique Features of the Workshop
1.
Design with Generative AI → Produce with 3D Printing: Participants will use generative AI to design their own unique characters, which will then be produced using a 3D printer, reaching a height of up to 10 cm. The finished products will be shipped to participants' homes approximately two weeks after the workshop.
2.
Witness Live 3D Printing Demonstrations: The workshop will be hosted at the headquarters of Mutoh Industry, where participants can closely observe live demonstrations of 3D printers in action, a unique experience not to be missed.
3.
An Ideal Summer Project for Families: Multiple instructors will facilitate the workshop, providing tailored support based on each participant's skill level and desired figurine. Families can document their entire creation process, making it a perfect project for summer homework.

Comments from the Organizers
Yuuho Ito, CEO of Walker Co., commented:
"Seeing the moment when a character imagined through AI takes physical form before children's eyes is the reason we continue to run these workshops. Thanks to Mutoh's cooperation, we can now add the special experience of witnessing 3D printing demonstrations. We invite families to come and experience the future of manufacturing this summer!"
