In a significant move for Georgia Transmission Corporation, the Board of Directors has appointed Chan Caudell as the new Vice President and General Counsel. This strategic decision reflects the organization’s commitment to bolstering its legal framework while navigating the dynamic energy landscape.

Caudell, who has an impressive background in law, previously served as a superior court judge for the Mountain Judicial Circuit since 2011. His extensive legal career includes notable roles in law firms and in higher education. As an attorney, Caudell has earned a reputation for his comprehensive understanding of legal practices, making him a valuable asset to Georgia Transmission.

With over 5,000 miles of high-voltage transmission lines and more than 780 substations under its management, Georgia Transmission plays a vital role in delivering electricity to more than 4.7 million residents in Georgia. The leadership of Caudell aims to enhance the cooperative's legal counsel and serve as a strategic advisor on various project-related activities.

Caudell holds a bachelor's degree from the University of Georgia and a juris doctorate from Mercer University. He is also a graduate of Leadership Georgia, showcasing his inclination towards community engagement and leadership development. In recognition of his contributions, he was honored as the 2024 Countian of the Year by the Habersham County Chamber of Commerce.

In addition to his legal expertise, Caudell has held various leadership roles, including serving as president of the Technical College System of Georgia Technical College Directors' Association and chair of the North Georgia Technical College Board of Directors. His long-standing commitment to community service is evident, as he has been an active member of the Rotary Club of Habersham County for over 25 years.

As he steps into this new role, Caudell expresses great optimism for what lies ahead. His focus will be on ensuring that Georgia Transmission not only maintains its commitment to providing reliable energy but also adapts to the evolving energy landscape.
