Children's Health Expands Pediatric Services in Southern Dallas County



In a significant development for pediatric healthcare in North Texas, Children's Health has revealed plans for a new facility at The Shops at RedBird in Southern Dallas County. This expansion aims to enhance the availability and accessibility of high-quality medical care for children, addressing a critical need in the community.

The initiative is a collaboration between Children's Health, UT Southwestern Medical Center, community stakeholders, and local leaders. Designed to meet the unique healthcare needs of families in southern Dallas County, this new location is expected to welcome its first patients in December 2027.

The RedBird Specialty Center



The facility, known as the RedBird Specialty Center, will offer a wide range of services tailored to children, including urgent care, primary care, behavioral health services, and various pediatric specialties. Notably, it will feature orthopaedics and sports medicine services through the Children’s Health Andrews Institute, ensuring that young athletes and patients have convenient access to specialized care right in their community.

According to research from Healthy People 2030, children who receive care through a coordinated medical home tend to enjoy better health outcomes, benefiting from more preventive care and better management of chronic conditions. Data suggesting an uptick in issues such as asthma, obesity, and chronic illnesses in southern Dallas County underscores the importance of this initiative. Community leaders have recognized the need for accessible healthcare, particularly given the ongoing disparities in housing and healthcare availability.
