Snowflake Expands Partnership with Google Cloud, Integrating Gemini 3 into Cortex AI

Expanding Horizons: Snowflake and Google Cloud Partnership

In a major announcement from January 6, 2023, Snowflake, the AI Data Cloud company listed on the New York Stock Exchange under the ticker SNOW, revealed an expansion of its collaboration with Google Cloud. This partnership aims to accelerate corporate innovation by merging one of the world's leading data and AI platforms with Google's advanced AI technologies. Snowflake and Google Cloud are set to deepen their product integration and amplify their go-to-market (GTM) strategies, making strides in collaborative selling efforts and product integration that benefit customers globally.

The integration of Google Cloud's Gemini 3 directly within Snowflake's Cortex AI means that enterprises will enjoy seamless access to Google's proprietary large language model (LLM) in a safeguarded and governed data environment. Customers will have the capability to develop, deploy, and scale generative AI applications, including intelligent data agents powered by Gemini, directly within the Snowflake platform. This eliminates the need to transfer or copy data across platforms, thereby enhancing security, compliance, and performance.

Christian Kleinerman, Senior Vice President of Product at Snowflake, stated, "Google has long been a standard for innovation and large infrastructure, leading the charge in the generative AI revolution. By combining Google Cloud's industry leadership with Snowflake's ability to leverage AI directly where enterprise data resides, we enable customers to act more swiftly, drive transformations, and unlock new possibilities using data and AI."

As part of this robust collaboration, Snowflake and Google Cloud will deepen their GTM strategy, facilitating joint customer interactions and creating new co-selling opportunities through the Google Cloud Marketplace. The partnership is expanding its reach into international markets, recently launching Snowflake on Google Cloud in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, with plans to commence offerings in Melbourne, Australia, by early 2026. Furthermore, the Snowflake Gen2 Warehouses have become production-ready on Google Cloud Axion's virtual machine C4A VM, significantly enhancing both pricing and performance.

Michael Gerstenhaber, Vice President of Google's Agents, APIs, and Vertex AI, expressed, "Through this collaboration, Google Cloud and Snowflake will help enterprises to accelerate their transformation processes. By natively offering the Gemini model within Snowflake, customers can leverage world-class generative AI capabilities with their governance-compliant data to garner insights across various industries and facilitate automation."

Significantly, major industries such as financial services, healthcare, manufacturing, retail/supply chain, technology, and analytics have already adopted the joint solutions offered by Snowflake and Google Cloud to revamp their data infrastructures and catalyze AI-driven transformations. Companies like BlackLine and Fivetran are utilizing Snowflake’s AI Data Cloud on Google Cloud to propel their enterprise data strategies, achieving real-time analytics, deployment of AI models, and advanced governance across their ecosystems.

Jeremy Ung, Chief Technology Officer of BlackLine, shared, "At BlackLine, we are advancing an intelligent agent-based AI model for finance executives, aiming beyond automation to create an agile partnership with financial professionals. By incorporating Google's powerful Gemini model into Snowflake’s integrated data platform, our capacity to manage complex financial processes efficiently and intelligently has dramatically increased."

George Fraser, Chief Executive Officer of Fivetran, remarked, "Companies have finally reached a point where they can do much more than just store data or execute basic queries. Our solution provides a data foundation with connectivity and governance, enabling Gemini to leverage customer data within Snowflake Cortex AI for reasoning and insights. This translates to custom development processes that used to take weeks, now accomplished in just days."
