On April 14th, a donation ceremony for portable power supplies was held at the Otsuki City Hall, marking a significant step towards enhancing disaster response capabilities in the region. This event was organized under the community cooperation agreement associated with the use of the Makigawa Power Plant.
The ceremony was attended by Otsuki Mayor Kobayashi and TK AquaGreen President Miyazaki, who expressed their commitment to local safety and disaster prevention. Notably, since being designated as a small hydroelectric power promoter by Yamanashi Prefecture in August 2022, TK AquaGreen has formalized several agreements aimed at advancing renewable energy initiatives in the area.
These agreements include a cooperation agreement with Yamanashi Prefecture, signed in April 2023, which focuses on implementing small hydro power projects within the prefecture’s forests, and a recent collaboration with Otsuki City regarding the utilization of the Makigawa Power Plant. This partnership particularly emphasizes the provision of electricity to the region during emergencies.
As part of this initiative, TK AquaGreen has generously donated portable power supplies and solar panels to Otsuki City. During the ceremony, President Miyazaki stated, "The construction of the power plant has been completed successfully, and we have begun operations under the Feed-in Tariff (FIT) system. Through this donation, we aim to enhance local disaster response and ensure the safety and security of the residents during emergencies. We look forward to deepening our collaboration with the community through the Makigawa Power Project."
In response, Mayor Kobayashi acknowledged the increasing frequency and intensity of natural disasters across the nation, highlighting the critical need for prompt energy supply in evacuation shelters immediately following such events. He assured that the assistance provided in accordance with the regional cooperation agreement would be effectively linked to ensuring citizen safety and well-being.
The Makigawa Power Plant commenced operations on April 1st, with an official opening ceremony scheduled for April 23rd. There is a shared hope that this donation will significantly contribute to the safety and security of both Otsuki City and its residents. TK AquaGreen remains dedicated to supporting the local community and enhancing its contributions moving forward.
Furthermore, to establish an operational framework for its small hydroelectric power initiatives, TK AquaGreen was founded in October 2023 with investments from four companies: Tekkensetsu Co., Iizuka Kogyo Co., Okayama Densetsu Co., and the Renewable Energy Community Design Research Institute Co. This strategic collaboration underscores a collective effort to promote renewable energy and foster community resilience against natural disasters.
